A scanning device or alight beam is moved for reciprocal scanning with respect to an image carrier, which carries image information thereon, and in a main scanning direction. The scanning device or the light beam is also moved with respect to the image carrier and in a sub-scanning direction intersecting with the main scanning direction. Light, which comes from the image carrier, is photoelectrically converted into an electric image signal. Smoothing operation processing is performed on forward scanning image signal components and backward scanning image signal components, which have been acquired respectively in a forward scanning stage and a backward scanning stage consecutive in the reciprocal scanning, and with respect to the sub-scanning direction.

Image processing apparatus and method which defines abnormal pixels by reading density signal levels

A method and an apparatus for correcting influences of a distortion aberration of a lens in an image formed on an image surface by the lens. Distortions of respective portions of the image are corrected according to a distortion aberration characteristic of the lens. The distortion aberration characteristic indicates distortions at respective distances from an optical axis of the lens on the image surface. Then, a value of at least one kind of information belonging to each point of the image in which the distortions are corrected is determined based on values of the at least one kind of information belonging to points around a corresponding point in the image before the correction. Further, the density or brightness values of the predetermined pixels after the correction of the positions may be further corrected in consideration of the change of areas due to the distortion of the image.

An image processing apparatus includes a temporary memory for two-dimensionally mapping and temporarily storing image data containing image region data corresponding to two image regions having a similar shape and stored in an image data memory, a CRT for reproducing images based on the image data stored in the temporary memory, an interest region defining section for defining a region of interest in one of the two image regions having a similar shape displayed on the CRT, a pixel specifying section for specifying a first reference pixel in the one of the two image regions having a similar shape and specifying a second pixel corresponding to the first reference pixel in one image region other than the one of two image regions, a copy section for copying the region of interest defined by the interest region defining section and the first reference pixel specified by the pixel specifying section, a template matching section for effecting template matching between minute region image data corresponding to a minute region containing the coordinate value of the first reference pixel as a center coordinate value and minute region image data corresponding to a minute region containing the coordinate value of the second reference pixel corresponding to the first reference pixel as a center coordinate value, and an affine conversion section for effecting an affine conversion on image data corresponding to an outer periphery of the region of interest stored in the temporary memory based on the result of the template. The thus constituted image processing apparatus can easily define image regions corresponding to each other in two images or image regions corresponding to each other in an image as regions of interest using the same figure.

An image analyzing apparatus for forming images on a CRT based on image data and effecting quantitative analysis includes an image density lower limit setting section for setting a lower limit value of image density, an image density upper limit setting section for setting an upper limit value of image density and an image area specifying section for specifying image areas having density equal to or higher than the lower limit value of image density set by the image density lower limit setting means and equal to or lower than the upper limit value of image density set by the image density upper limit setting means from among the images displayed on the CRT. The apparatus further includes a pattern selecting section for selecting graphic data corresponding to the patterns for defining the regions of interest from among the graphic data stored in the graphic data memory, an editing mode determining section for determining an editing mode for editing the pattern corresponding to the selected graphic data, a graphic data editing section for editing the selected graphic data based on the determined editing mode, and edited graphic data producing section for producing edited graphic data based on the result of the editing of the graphic data editing section, the synthesized data producing section being adapted to produce synthesized data by synthesizing the image data, the graphic data and/or the edited graphic data. According to the thus constituted apparatus, it is possible to surround an area in the image displayed on the CRT by a pattern to specify a region of interest in a desired manner with a memory having a small capacity.

A biochemical image analyzing apparatus includes image data memory for storing image data of a biochemical image produced based on data obtained by converting to electrical signals locational information of regarding labeled substance contained in a sample produced by one-dimensionally distributing at least one specimen, a data processor for selecting image data from among the image data stored in the image data memory and processing the selected image data in a predetermined manner to produce display image data mapped in a planar coordinate system, a display for displaying an image based on the display image data, and a first image data divider for producing first divided coordinate data by dividing the display image data along one coordinate axis of the planar coordinate system to produce lanes defining regions to be quantified along the one coordinate axis. According to the thus constituted biochemical image analyzing apparatus, it is possible to quickly define regions of interest to be quantified or quantitatively analyzed in a biochemical image without requiring an operator to conduct complicated operations.

An image processing apparatus includes a temporary memory for two-dimensionally mapping and temporarily storing image data containing image data regions corresponding to at least two image regions having similar shape and stored in an image data storing section, a CRT for reproducing an image based on the image data stored in the temporary memory, a pixel specifying section for specifying pixels corresponding to at least two equivalent points in at least two image regions having similar shape in the image displayed on the CRT, a data correcting section for effecting, between micro region image data corresponding to micro regions including coordinates of the at least two pixels specified by the pixel specifying section as center coordinates, rotation and movement correction and enlargement/reduction magnification correction on the micro region image data in the image data corresponding to one image region so that a rotation angle and an enlargement/reduction magnification of the one image region coincide with those of a reference image region which is one of the at least two image regions, a template matching section for effecting template matching on the micro region image data corrected by the data correcting section and the micro region image data in the image data corresponding to the reference image region, and an affine converting section for effecting affine conversion on the image data stored in the temporary memory based on the result of the template matching effected by the template matching section. According to the thus constituted image processing apparatus, it is possible to accurately effect template matching within a short time period.

According to the thus constituted image forming apparatus, it is possible to form a visible image on the CRT based on image data which can scroll the image formed on the CRT at a high speed.
