A return loss in an optical connector connection structure according to a lens scheme is reduced. An optical connector () according to this disclosure, includes: a plurality of optical fibers () arranged in an array; and a lens array plate () that includes a first principal surface () with a plurality of lenses () corresponding to the respective optical fibers being formed on this surface, and a second principal surface () joined to end faces () of the optical fibers so as to be opposed to the first principal surface and optically coupled to the optical fibers to which the respective lenses correspond, wherein at least one of the end faces of the optical fibers and the second principal surface is inclined from a plane () perpendicular to optical axes () of the optical fibers.

Optical connector, and optical connector connection structure

A cantilever type latch having the fixed end on the side of exposing the terminal end surface of the optical fiber is provided on the side of the plug housing. Near the center of the upper surface of the latch, an engaging projection which is to be engaged in the engaging hole formed in the adapter or the receptacle is formed. The engaging projection has the slope which decreases the height toward the fixed end side of the latch, in which the gradient of the slope is nearly equal to or greater than the rotation angle required for the elastic deformation of the latch with the fixed end functioned as the fulcrum. Thereby easy disconnecting of the latch is implemented.

There are provided a power supply device for an optical functional component that supplies power to the optical functional component with reliability for a long term and enables easy exchange of the optical functional component, and an optical functional module having such a power supply device, where the power supply device is provided with a reception electrode, a power supply electrode-that supplies power to the reception electrodewhile holding tight the reception electrodeon its side faces and thereby holding an optical functional component-detachably, and a protecting memberthat is made of an insulating material and surrounds the power supply electrode-to prevent current leaks, and the power supply electrode-is comprised of two bent metallic members (-and-B) which are in intimate contact with the reception electrodeby elasticity.

Functional optical module

The invention comprises three parts: The first parts provides a miniaturized functional optical module, which is provided with a lens-exchange type collimator enabling rapid and easy exchange of an optical functional component and/or lenses and being compact in size and excellent in durability. The second part provides a power supply device for an optical functional component that supplies power to the optical functional component with reliability for a long term and enables easy exchange of the optical functional component, and an optical functional module having such a power supply device. The third part provides an optical switch compact in size and greatly easy in handling, which is provided with a connector module having a plurality of optical fibers for light-beam input, a plurality of optical fibers for light-beam output corresponding to the plurality of optical fibers and a light-beam reflecting member.

Provided in the present specification is an optical connector boot including: an attachment portion attached to a connector ferrule, and a cable passing portion through which a flat type optical fiber cable is passed, in which there is provided at one longitudinal end of the cable passing portion an inlet for introducing the flat type optical fiber cable into the cable passing portion, in which there is provided in the attachment portion an outlet for drawing out the flat type optical fiber cable inserted into the cable passing portion, and in which the inlet and the outlet differ from each other in orientation so that the flat type optical fiber cable inserted into the cable passing portion through the inlet may be twisted around its axis within the cable passing portion by drawing it out of the outlet. According to an optical connector of the present invention, a flat type optical fiber cable inserted into and secured in a ferrule is covered with the optical connector boot.

Optical connector boot with controlled rotation feature

A ferrule for optical connector has a body in which lines of fiber holes are arranged in a plurality of tiers. A cavity is formed in the body, and its bottom connects with the respective inlets of the fiber holes. The bottom of the cavity is a tiered bottom designed so that the respective inlet positions of the fiber holes are differentiated in stages between adjacent lines of the fiber hole array. The tiered bottom is formed having guide grooves that extend toward the respective inlets of the fiber holes in the same column of the fiber hole array. An opening is formed in a position of the outer surface of the body parallel to rows of the fiber hole array. The opening allows the tiered bottom to be exposed through the outer surface of the body.

Optical connector for connecting a plurality of fiber ribbons to one another

An optical connector has a housing in which a ferrule and a stopper are arranged on the front side and the rear side of the housing, respectively. An optical fiber ribbon extends from the ferrule through the stopper engaged with the housing and comes out from the rear end of the housing. A protection boot extends from the rear end of the housing over a predetermined length. The protection boot surrounds the optical fiber ribbon. The protection boot has a front end mounted on the stopper inside the housing.

In an optical connector ferrule comprising an insertion opening through which one end of a coated optical fiber with the coating removed is inserted. A guide groove is provided for guiding the bare fiber of the optical fiber. A fiber hole is provided for inserting therein the bare fibers guided by the guide groove. An injection port is provided for injecting therein adhesive for securing the coated optical fiber to the ferrule. Guide surfaces are provided for guiding the bare fiber to the guide grooves at sides of the guide groove. In the similar optical connector ferrule, there is provided an enlarged portion extending forwardly from a leading edge of the injection port in a fiber inserting direction and reaching a filling space into which the adhesive is filled. Further, a ceiling surface of the enlarged portion is inclined downwardly forwardly from the injection port.

Ferrule for optical connector

An optical connector for making connection with a connecting partner side and releasing this connection is provided. The optical connector has an optical connector housing. The optical connector housing is formed by inserting a slider into a base end wall of an arm side member so as to be freely advanced and retreated. A cam following face is formed on an inner wall face of an arm portion of the arm side member. A claw portion is formed on a tip side of the arm portion. An opening angle driving cam member is connected to a tip side of the slider. A ferrule is arranged between the arm portions on a forward side of the opening angle driving cam member. When the slide is moved backward, the opening angle driving cam member is moved backward and is operated to angularly open the arm portion through the cam following face. This opening angle state is maintained by making the opening angle driving cam member abut on a stationary face of the cam following face. The claw portion is dislocated from an engaging position with the connecting partner side by the angular opening of the arm portion so that the connection of the optical connector is released.

A fixing component for fixing an optical fiber cord to an optical connector in a press-fitting manner by compression deformation is formed with a connected combination of a tension member fixing portion for fixing, in a press-fitting manner, a tension member of the optical fiber cord put on an outer peripheral surface of the optical connector to the outer peripheral surface and a sheath fixing portion for fixing, in a press-fitting manner, a sheath of the cord put on the outer peripheral surface of the connector to the outer peripheral surface, and has a slit formed between the tension member fixing portion and the sheath fixing portion, and adapted to absorb compressed and deformed part of either or both of the two fixing portions.

Optical fiber cord fixing component

A connector adapter including a light emitting element for emitting a laser beam and connected with a plug having an optical fiber, whereby the laser beam emitted from the light emitting element is introdued into the optical fiber. The connector adapter comprises a shutter member fixed in a connector and including a base portion having a first spring portion and a shutter portion connected to the base portion. The base portion undergoes elastic deformation at the first spring portion so that the shutter portion recedes from the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is pushed into the adapter to be attached thereto, and is restored from the elastic deformation so that the shutter portion intercepts the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is drawn out of the adapter to be detached therefrom.
