A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal layer that is held between first and second substrates; an upper polarization plate that is disposed on an outer side of the first substrate; and a protection plate that is fixed to and disposed on an outer side of the upper polarization plate, wherein the upper polarization plate has a structure where an outer peripheral portion of the upper polarization plate is not fixed to the protection plate.

Liquid crystal display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can be used in a miniaturized portable equipment, wherein the liquid crystal display device integrally incorporates a drive circuit therein so that a circuit scale can be miniaturized. A liquid crystal drive circuit includes a first drive circuit and a second drive circuit which is mounted on one side of the liquid crystal display panel. One output of the first drive circuit is connected to a plurality of signal lines and the second drive circuit supplies signals to the first drive circuit. The liquid crystal display panel includes holding capacitive elements and signals are supplied to the holding capacitive elements from the second drive circuit. The second drive circuit includes a booster circuit for supplying signals to the first drive circuit and the holding capacitive elements.

Liquid crystal display device having drive circuit

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can be used in a miniaturized portable device, wherein the liquid crystal display device has a small area for mounting driving circuits and allows the free mounting of the driving circuits. In the liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display element and a liquid crystal driving circuit, the liquid crystal driving circuit is mounted on one side of the liquid crystal display panel. Driving circuits for driving scanning signal lines are provided in plural. The scanning signal line driving circuits sandwich a circuit for driving video signal lines and are arranged in line with the video signal line driving circuit. Lines for transmitting signals to the scanning signal lines are connected to the scanning signal lines from left and right sides of the liquid crystal display panel so as to perform a control of the driving circuits in response to external signals.

A display device used in a miniaturized portable equipment is capable of driving two display panels, consisting of main and sub-display panels. The display device includes a main display panel, a sub-display panel and a drive circuit. The drive circuit can simultaneously drive the main display panel and the sub-display panel. Output terminals are provided to the main display panel, and signals are transmitted to the sub-display panel from the output terminals. Further, the drive circuit includes a power source circuit which is capable of outputting proper common voltages to the main display panel and the sub-display panel.
