A power transmission device is provided that enables more accurate detection of an undesired switching state for a switching element and an appropriate supply of power. The power transmission device includes a power supply, a switching element, a ringing detection circuit, and a control circuit unit. The ringing detection circuit detects ringing that occurs in the switching element. The control circuit unit controls at least the power supply or the switching element in accordance with a detection result of the ringing detection circuit. The ringing detection circuit includes a diode and a resistor. The diode conducts when a negative polarity voltage is generated in the switching element. The resistor is connected in series with the diode.

Subsequently, switching element (Q) is turned off when the current flowing through switching element (Q) changes from negative to positive (in a direction from the drain towards the source) and the current reaches a prescribed threshold value. Then, zero-voltage switching of switching element (Q) is achieved by turning on switching element (Q) while the parasitic diode (D) of switching element (Q) is turned on.

A reflection encoder is disclosed having a light emitting element in a light receiving element that are separated by a light shielding body that prevents unwanted light from entering the light receiving element. In variations of the invention, the light shielding body may be integrally formed with a mold resin portion that holds the light emitting element and light receiving element, formed by a sheet or plate, or formed using an opaque liquid resin that is poured between transparent resin bodies that encapsulate the light emitter and receiver. In operation, light radiated from the light emitting element is reflected by a code wheel and then received by a light receiving element. Other variations include varying the height at which the light receiving and detecting elements are disposed relative to the code wheel and tilting these elements towards each other so as to increase light efficiency.

Disclosed is an oxide thin film producing method and apparatus for producing an oxide thin film having excellent crystallinity and purity with high productivity while correctly controlling the composition of the oxide thin film. After reducing the pressure inside a vacuum chamber to 1.times.10.sup.-9 Torr or less, a metal thin film is formed by evaporating a specified metal element and depositing vapor of the metal element on a substrate in the vacuum chamber. Then a cover member is moved upward to closely abut to a cover receiving member to thereby form an airtight chamber for enclosing the substrate airtightly in the vacuum chamber. With the degree of vacuum around the airtight chamber maintained, O.sub.2 gas is directly introduced into the airtight chamber through a gas piping to oxidize the metal thin film and thereby form an oxide thin film. At the same time, the gas inside the airtight chamber is discharged directly out of the vacuum chamber through a gas piping.

Disclosed is an oxide thin film producing method for producing an oxide thin film having excellent crystallinity and purity with high productivity while correctly controlling the composition of the oxide thin film.
