A thermal convection generating device () that generates thermal convection of a liquid by heating or cooling the liquid and applying centrifugal force to the liquid, the thermal convection generating device including: a stage () to which a thermal convection generating chip () is attachable and detachable, the thermal convection generating chip including a disk-like substrate () and a thermal convection pathway () formed in a surface of the disk-like substrate that is perpendicular to an axis (AX) of the disk-like substrate, and being configured to rotate about the axis of the disk-like substrate to apply centrifugal force to a liquid in the thermal convection pathway; a heat controller () that heats or cools a portion of the thermal convection pathway; a motor () that drives the thermal convection generating chip to rotate about the axis; and a controller () that controls the heat controller and the motor.

Thermal convection generating chip, thermal convection generating device, and thermal convection generating method

The present invention provides a surface acoustic wave sensor capable of suitably controlling the flow of a liquid sample onto IDT electrodes. A surface acoustic wave sensor has a piezoelectric substrate, a first IDT electrode and a second IDT electrode which are located on the upper surface of the piezoelectric substrate and are separated from each other while sandwiching a detection part on the piezoelectric substrate therebetween, and the cover which forms the space being on the first IDT electrode, second IDT electrode, and the detection part and straddling them. On the lower surface of the cover, the detection part-facing surface facing the detection part has a smaller contact angle to the liquid sample than that of a pair of electrode-facing surfaces facing the first IDT electrode and second IDT electrode.

Surface acoustic wave sensor

A thermal convection generating chip () includes a rotatory body (), a thermal convection pathway () provided in the rotatory body (), and a supply path (A toC) that supplies a liquid to the thermal convection pathway (). The supply path (A toC) includes a liquid receiving section () that receives the liquid and a suction passage () that provides communication between the liquid receiving section () and the thermal convection pathway (). The suction passage () has a first region () extending between a midsection of the suction passage () and the thermal convection pathway (), and a second region () extending between the midsection and the liquid receiving section (). The liquid in the first region () is separated from the liquid in the second region () through rotation of the rotatory body () to be supplied to the thermal convection pathway ().

Thermal convection generating chip and liquid measuring device

A sensor is provided with a sensor element which outputs a signal in accordance with a detected object contained in a specimen positioned on a detection part in an element surface and with a package which accommodates the sensor element inside it and has a passage including a space positioned on the element surface. A lower surface of the passage has the element surface and a lower surface of an inflow passage extending toward the space, and a gap is positioned between the lower surface of the inflow passage and the element surface. The element surface is positioned above the lower surface of the inflow passage.

A microfluidic device includes a channel through which a reaction solution flows. The channel passes through a reaction section having a plurality of temperature zones set at predetermined different temperatures. The channel includes, at least in the reaction section, a region where a cross-sectional area decreases in a feeding direction of the reaction solution.
