A seating sensor is provided on a seat back part and/or a seat cushion part of a seat in use for a vehicle such as an automobile, and calculates physical conditions, such as a height and weight of an occupant, to judge whether the subject on the seat is a human or an object. On the basis of the results of such calculation and judgement, the operation of an air bag is controlled. The seating sensor includes a sensing element which is variable in its electric resistance in response to the pressure variation, and the pressing force is detected on the basis of the variation of the electric resistance value.

A rotary connector having a mutually rotatable inside case and outside case and having a flat cable with one end fixed to the inside case and the other end fixed to the outside case inserted in the space therebetween. A plurality of annular belts are inserted in the circumferential direction to bias the turnabout portion of the flat cable to prevent the flat cable from becoming loose and rattling in the space. Contact prevention members are inserted between the adjoining annular belts to prevent the adjoining annular belts from coming into direct contact with each other and to smooth the rotation of the rotary connector.

Rotary connector

A connector device includes a fixed housing fixed on a fixed member, a movable housing mounted on a rotatable member and freely rotatably combined with the fixed housing, and a flexible flat transmission line which serves to electrically or optically connect the fixed member to the rotatable member, which is wound in a spiral form and which is received in a space created by the fixed and movable housings. A clearance in an axial direction along the rotation shaft of the movable housing between the flat transmission line and the movable housing, or between the flat transmission line and the fixed housing is set to be smaller in the intermediate portion of the flat transmission line than in at least one of the end portions at which the flat transmission line is fixed on the housings so as to suppress occurrence of unpleasant vibration sound caused by collision between the flat transmission line and the housings.

Connector device

A brushless electric signal transmission apparatus comprising inner and outer housings coupled rotatably, a flat cable accommodated in an eddy form between these housings and including a plurality of conductors, plug-type connectors respectively mounted on opposite end portions of the flat cable, sockets into which the plug-type connectors are inserted, and covered lead wires which are the same in number as the flat cable conductors. Most of the flat cable conductors are connected to their corresponding covered lead wires via the plug-type connectors and the sockets. The unset flat cable conductors are connected to the unset covered lead wires via bus bars provided at the plug-type connectors.

Brushless electric signal transmission apparatus

A plastic optical fiber cable with a ferrule in which a plastic sheath of the end side of the optical fiber cable is removed to expose a plastic optical fiber from the end of the optical fiber cable, and the ferrule is secured to the outer periphery of the end side of the optical fiber cable, wherein the ferrule is axially formed as a combination of a plastic cylindrical member for forming the end of the ferrule, and a metal cylindrical member for forming the base end, wherein the plastic cylindrical member is in contact with the enlarged part of the end of the optical fiber core at the inner peripheral surface of the end side to be secured to the end of the optical fiber core, and the metal cylindrical member is contacted under pressure with the outer periphery of the end of the plastic sheath by a stopper projecting from the inner peripheral surface of the metal cylindrical member so as to be fastened to the plastic sheath. Thus, the rigid ferrule can be mounted at the end of the plastic optical fiber cable in a short time and does not damage the core even if a heating cycle is applied thereto.
