An object of the invention is to provide a flow rate control valve assembly capable of preventing a flow rate from varying in a direction opposite to the desired direction upon flow rate control As shown in FIG., the flow rate control valve assembly comprises a sliding shaft and a sliding cylindrical surface which fit slidably in with each other in an axial direction, and a moving mechanism for moving the sliding shaft in an axial direction. At least one of the sliding surface of the sliding shaft and the sliding cylindrical surface is provided with one or a plurality of tapered grooves having its specific area defining a fluid passage. The tapered groove is configured such that flow passage resistance increases or decreases gradually along a lengthwise direction, and a cavity formed at an end of the sliding shaft for making sure of a sliding area is formed at a site isolated or shut off from the fluid passage.

A cell search control that can save power consumption at a mobile device and perform an appropriate in-service area determination is provided. The mobile device according to the present invention includes: a cell search execution unit () for detecting a synchronization channel from a base station to perform cell search; a signal reception determination unit () for comparing a measurement X of the signal from the base station with a system information reception threshold A and determining whether or not to receive a system information from the base station; and an in-service area determination unit () for comparing the measurement X with a minimum required quality level B contained in the system information and determining whether or not to enter into an in-service area state with the base station. Depending on the result of the in-service area determination unit, the reception threshold A or a waiting time for the cell search may be adjusted, or the base station may be excluded from the cell search. Thus, the power consumption at the mobile device can be saved, and an appropriate in-service area determination can be made even when the minimum required quality level B has been changed.

A lead cutting apparatus of an electronic component, which is capable of cutting of leads of the component to a specific length independent of the shape and size of the component. This apparatus includes a table with a flat surface on which an electronic component is placed. The package of the component is supported by the flat surface of the table. A pair of cutting units are located at each side of the table. Each of the pair of cutting units has a gripper for gripping a corresponding one of the leads of the component, a cutter for cutting the corresponding one of the leads to a specific length, and a retainer for retaining the package of the component on the table. The pair of cutting units are designed to be moved toward the table and away from the table by a pair of moving units, respectively. The pair or cutting units are moved toward the table until the retainers are contacted with the package of the component by the pair of driving units, respectively, thereby positioning the component on the flat surface of the table. The grippers of the pair of cutting units are moved to grip the corresponding leads. The cutters of the pair of cutting units are moved to cut the gripped leads to the specific length.

High-quality character generating system and method for use therein

A closed loop-like measuring passage is provided with two openings at symmetrical positions, and a sample gas is introduced through on opening into the passage and discharged therefrom through the other opening. A bypass pipe is connected to the measuring passage midway therealong, and a stable purge gas of known composition is introduced into the pipe from the center thereof. A magnetic field is generated in one of the two connecting portions between the bypass pipe and the measuring passage, and the oxygen gas attracting action of the field results in a change in the ratio of the split of the purge gas stream introduced into the bypass pipe and split into two streams. This change is detected by a pair of purge gas stream detecting sensors provided inside the bypass pipe symmetrically with respect to the portion through which the purge gas is introduced, and the thus detected signals are processed to obtain the difference between them which gives the oxygen gas concentration in the sample gas.

A thermal conductivity detector of the type that uses an electrical bridge of four heaters with the fluid to be measured being exposed to a pair of heaters and the reference fluid being exposed to the other pair of heaters, wherein the invention improves upon this type of detector by having the fluid to be measured applied to a pair of parallel passageways in a block structure wherein a pair of heaters are contained and concurrently into bypass passageways which bypass the pair of heaters and then outputted through a common outlet; and wherein concurrently the reference fluid is applied to a pair of parallel passageways in another block structure wherein another pair of heaters are contained and concurrently to bypass passageways which bypass the second pair of heaters and then outputted through a common outlet and wherein the bypass passageways of one of the block structures are different in internal diameter from the bypass passageways in the other block structure. This invention enables rapid detection without being adversely affected by changes in quantities of fluid being measured.

An oxygen meter for measuring the oxygen concentration in a measured gas, having a probe type detecting section carrying at its end a solid electrolyte unit constituting a partition wall, so as to produce a signal corresponding to the difference in the oxygen concentration between the inner side and the outer side of the partition wall. The oxygen meter is adapted to be exposed to the flow of the gas to be measured or into a furnace through a hole formed in the furnace wall, thereby to continuously produce a signal representing the oxygen concentration in the gas to be measured.
