Provided are a supported catalyst including: a support body which is formed by a catalyst composition being supported by a carrier, in which the catalyst composition contains an oxide of copper, and the carrier contains &#x3b1;AlO.&#x3b2;BO(&#x3b1; and &#x3b2; each represent a positive number); and a hydrogen production method for producing hydrogen from ammonia, including: an ammonia combustion step of reacting ammonia with oxygen in the presence of the supported catalyst; and an ammonia decomposition step of decomposing the ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen by utilizing heat generated by the reaction between the ammonia and the oxygen.

There is provided an oxygen storage/release material using a rare earth oxysulfate or oxysulfide, which has a high oxygen storage/release capacity even at lower temperatures. The oxygen storage/release material of the present invention comprises a compound consisting of PrOSOand/or PrOS and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Pt, Rh and Fe supported thereon.
