A seat apparatus includes a seat cushion, a seat back associated with the seat cushion, an air vent extending from the bottom side of the cushion towards the sitting side of the cushion, and an air producing device which blows air, preferably temperature controlled air, to the air vent and to a groove facing the sitting side of the cushion. The seat apparatus is thus able to distribute air, preferably temperature controlled air, to the seated individual.

An automobile heating apparatus according to this invention includes: a water pump for circulating the cooling water for an automobile water-cooling engine; a radiator for heating the air to be introduced into the automobile room by utilizing the cooling water delivered by the water pump as a heat source; and a hot water circuit for circulating the cooling water in the automobile water-cooling engine, the water pump and the radiator; wherein a heat generator is disposed in the hot water circuit at an upstream portion with respect to the radiator, and the heat generator includes; a heat generating chamber having a labyrinth groove and containing viscous fluid therein; a housing disposed adjacent to the heat generating chamber and having a heat receiving path constituting part of the hot water circuit; a shaft held rotatably in the housing and receiving the rotary torque of the automobile water-cooling engine by way of clutch means; and a rotor fixed on the shaft at an end thereof and having a labyrinth groove disposed in the heat generating chamber. The automobile heating apparatus is down-sized and light-weighted by only providing this simple and compact heat generator in the hot water circuit thereof, because there is no further need for connecting the exhaust pipe and the hot water circuit for heating by way of the heat exchanger of large size as in a prior art automobile heating apparatus.

A cooling system for an internal combustion engine with an intercooler has a pump with a single drive shaft which drives two sets of vanes. One set of vanes circulates coolant through a circuit including the engine block, and the other circulates fluid through a circuit including the intercooler. Around the rotary impeller of the pump is a clearance to allow communication between the circuits. Thus, the intercooler can function as an intake air heater when cold-starting the engine, idling without supercharging, or operating the engine in the region of low engine rpm's.

The cylindrical engine cooler is disposed in a vehicle so that the axis line of the cooler crosses the traveling line of a vehicle so that the air resistance against vehicle travel becomes small. The water tanks or main coolant tube can be used as the shroud for accommodating the cooling fan, when they are annularly shaped and disposed at the end of the cylindrically cooler. Two cooling fans disposed at the both ends of the cylindrically-shaped cooler may have different air-blowing capacity each other.

A heat exchanger for an internal combustion engine includes a first conduit, a second conduit positioned outside of the first conduit, a third conduit positioned inside of the first conduit, a first annular passage formed between the first and second conduits, and a second annular passage formed between the first and third conduits. Heat exchange is performed between a first fluid flowing through the first annular passage and the inside of the third conduit and a second fluid flowing through the second annular passage.

A cooling system for an internal combustion engine, which includes a fan having a boss coupled to an input member, a plurality of blades projecting substantially radially from the boss and a thin cylindrical ring coaxial with the boss and integrated around the blades, and a shroud arranged around the fan with a clearance therebetween. The ring has a cylindrical portion in its intake side and is bent, with a curvature, outwardly toward its exhaust side. The relative arrangement of the fan with the ring and the shroud is such that a maximum diameter of the ring/(the diameter of the cylindrical portion of the ring+the clearance.times.2) is established in the range of 0.97 to 1.04, that the curvature/the diameter of the cylindrical portion of the ring is established in the range of 0.05 to 0.08, and that overlapping length of the shroud with the ring is established in the range of 0.17 to 0.70.
