A printing apparatus includes a fixing unit configured to fix an image onto a printing medium by heating the printing medium on which the image is printed, a measuring unit configured to measure each of a length of the printing medium at a first temperature, a length of the printing medium after heating of the printing medium in the fixing unit at a second temperature being a glass transition point of a material of the printing medium, and a length of the printing medium after heating of the printing medium in the fixing unit at a third temperature, and a determining unit configured to determine a fixation temperature to be used for the printing medium, based on the measured lengths.

Printing apparatus and control method of printing apparatus

A roll sheet with a continuous sheet wound in a roll form is rotated in a forward direction to supply the sheet to a printing unit. A sensor whose output is changed in accordance with a distance between the sensor and the sheet is used. A rotation direction of the roll sheet is switched from an opposite direction to the forward direction on the basis of the output of the sensor during rotation of the roll sheet in the opposite direction.

Printing apparatus

A roll sheet, in which a continuous sheet is wound in a roll form, is caused to rotate in a forward direction to supply the sheet to a printing unit. First and second sensors are arranged at positions facing an outer circumferential surface of the roll sheet and deviated in an axis line direction of the roll sheet. Outputs of the first and second sensors are changed in accordance with a distance to a sheet of the roll sheet. A rotation direction of the roll sheet is switched from a forward direction to a reverse direction on the basis of the outputs of the first and second sensors while the roll sheet is being rotated in the reverse direction.

A printing apparatus includes a first roller that nips and conveys, in a conveyance direction, a printing medium, a second roller that nips and conveys the printing medium at a downstream side of the first roller in the conveyance direction, a print unit that prints an image on the printing medium conveyed by the second roller, and a control unit that, until printing by the print unit reaches a vicinity of a trailing end of a print length, sets a nip pressure of the first roller to a first pressure, and when printing by the print unit reaches the vicinity of the trailing end of the print length, sets the nip pressure of the first roller to a second pressure that is higher than the first pressure.

Printing apparatus and conveyance control method thereof

A sheet supplying apparatus, which is capable of winding a sheet tightly, includes a driving unit configured to cause a roll including a wound consecutive sheet to rotate in a first direction for feeding the sheet or a second direction opposite to the first direction, a sensor that detects a leading end portion of the sheet separated from an outer circumferential surface of the roll, and a contact body that presses the outer circumferential surface. Before the sheet is fed, in a state in which the contact body presses the outer circumferential surface, the driving unit causes the roll to continuously rotate in the second direction until a detection cycle of the leading end portion by the sensor is less than a predetermined value.

A reading apparatus includes a conveyance roller configured to convey a medium, a reading unit configured to read an image of the medium conveyed by the conveyance roller, a detection unit configured to detect a rotation phase of the conveyance roller, a storage unit configured to store index values, each index value being associated with the rotation phase of the conveyance roller and corresponding to a conveyance amount of the conveyance roller per unit rotation angle, and a timing control circuit configured to select the index value based on a detection result of the detection unit and to control a reading timing of the reading unit based on a result of comparing a cumulative value of selected index values with a threshold corresponding to a reading resolution.

An information processing apparatus includes a type reception unit, a notification unit, a mode reception unit, and a determination unit. The mode reception unit receives a mode selected from among a plurality of modes for determining a determined type of recording medium for use in a recording apparatus, wherein the information processing apparatus is configured to perform operations including determining, in a designation mode, a selected type of recording medium indicated by information received by the type reception unit, and determining, in an automatic determination mode, an automatically determined type of recording medium for use in the recording apparatus without receiving input user information indicating the recording medium type. A print apparatus includes a holding unit to hold a roll sheet obtained by winding a sheet, a driving unit, a separation flapper, a pressure contact roller, a print unit, a displacement sensor, and a control unit. The driving unit rotates the held roll sheet. The separation flapper follows a roll sheet surface to separate the sheet from the roll sheet. The pressure contact roller comes into pressure contact with the roll sheet surface. The print unit prints an image on the sheet supplied by rotating the roll sheet in pressure contact with the pressure contact roller in a forward direction. The displacement sensor detects a separation flapper displacement amount according to separation flapper rotation when the sheet is supplied to the print unit after a roll sheet front end is detected. The control unit stops the roll sheet rotation when the amount of displacement exceeds a threshold.

Print apparatus

A reflected light amount from a patch under a first light source is acquired, and a reflected light amount from the patch under a second light source whose wavelength band is different from the first light source is acquired. The type of a printing medium on which the patch is printed is determined based on the ratio of the two acquired reflected light amounts.
