According to one embodiment, there is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a nonaqueous electrolyte and a separator. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material containing LiNiCoMnMO(0.9&#x3c;x&#x2264;1.25, 0&#x3c;a&#x2264;0.4, 0&#x2264;b&#x2264;0.45, 0&#x2264;c&#x2264;0.1, and M represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mg, Al, Si, Ti, Zn, Zr, Ca, and Sn). The separator includes polyester. A pore volume in a pore size distribution according to a mercury intrusion porosimetry is in a range of 0.9 cm/g to 3 cm/g. An air permeability value according to a Gurley method is in a range of 2 sec/100 ml to 15 sec/100 ml.

Nonaqueous electrolyte battery, battery pack and positive electrode

According to one embodiment, provided is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery that includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The separator is disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The separator includes a fiber-made nonwoven fabric having a tortuosity of 1.8 to 3 and a vacancy of 40% to 60%. The negative electrode has an operating potential of 0.7 V or more with respect to the potential of metallic lithium.

Nonaqueous electrolyte battery and battery pack

According to an embodiment, there is provided a battery system. The battery system includes a first battery and a second battery connected in parallel with the first battery. The first battery includes a lead storage battery. The second battery includes a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes a negative-electrode-mixture layer, and the negative-electrode-mixture layer contains lithium titanate. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material LiMnM(a)O. A ratio of a battery capacity of the second battery to a battery capacity of the first battery is in a range of 1/133 to 1/2.

Battery system

According to an embodiment, there is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator sandwiched between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode contains a negative electrode active material having a Li-absorbing potential of 1 V vs. Li/Lior more. An electrical resistance of the negative electrode in a discharged state is within a range of 100 &#x3a9;&#xb7;cm to 100000 &#x3a9;&#xb7;cm. A pore volume ratio of pores having a pore diameter of 1 &#x3bc;m or more in the separator is more than 70%. The pore volume ratio is determined from a cumulative pore volume frequency curve of the separator obtained by a mercury intrusion porosimetry.

According to an embodiment, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery including an electrode group and a nonaqueous electrolyte is provided. The electrode group is formed by winding a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The tension modulus of the separator in the winding direction is within a range of 200 (N/mm) to 2,000 (N/mm).

According to one embodiment, there is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The negative electrode of the battery includes a negative electrode active material which can absorb and release lithium ions at a negative electrode potential of 0.4 V (V.S. Li/Li) or more.
