An antenna device includes: a patch conductor provided on a substrate; a GND conductor provided in the substrate in such a manner as to face the patch conductor; GND pins that are provided in the substrate and that connect the patch conductor and the GND conductor; and an RF circuit provided on a first face of the patch conductor opposite to a second face of the patch conductor, the second face being attached to the substrate, the RF circuit being provided in such a manner as to be surrounded by the GND pins.

An array antenna device AAD including: a plurality of element antennas EAs; a transmission/reception module TRM, which is to be connected to one of the EAs, and includes a transmission circuit TC, a reception circuit RC, and a transmission/reception switch; a transmission/reception controller controlling by controlling an amplitude and phase of a signal passing through each TC and RC, and by switching transmission/reception; a distributor distributing a signal from a signal transmitter to each TC to transmit a distributed signal from the each TC; a combiner combining a signal from the each RC; and a receiver receiving the combined signal. There are provided a communication excitation distribution calculating unit () that calculates an excitation distribution W() of a communication beam using an excitation phase distribution S that directs a main lobe of the communication beam in a communication direction; an interference excitation distribution calculating unit () that calculates an excitation distribution W() of an interference beam using an excitation phase distribution D that forms a null of an antenna pattern in the communication direction; and an excitation distribution combining unit () that combines the excitation distribution W() of the communication beam and the excitation distribution W() of the interference beam. An amplitude/phase controlling unit () controls amplitudes and phases of carrier signals to be provided to element antennas (-) to (-K), in accordance with the combined excitation distribution obtained by the excitation distribution combining unit ().

Antenna apparatus and antenna excitation method

Disclosed is an antenna device including element antennas for receiving signals, phase control units for controlling the phases of the signals received by the element antennas, a phase value series acquiring unit for acquiring phase value series in which phase values differing among the element antennas and changing with time are provided, a phase value setting unit for setting the phase values to the phase control units in accordance with the phase value series, a combining unit for combining the signals whose phases are controlled into a composite signal, an ADC for digitizing the composite signal, a frequency calculating unit for calculating frequency shift amounts from the phase value series, DDCs for performing frequency conversion on the digitized signal by using the frequency shift amounts, LPFs each for performing low-pass filtering on the signal on which the frequency conversion is performed, and a beam forming unit for forming one or more beam signals by using the signals on each of which the low-pass filtering is performed.

A sub-array number determinator is provided to determine a number of sub-arrays to be allocated to each of user terminals detected by a terminal position detector on a basis of relation between positions of the user terminals and a position of an antenna apparatus. An antenna selector selects sub-arrays for the number determined by the sub-array number determinator from among the sub-arrays and allocates the selected sub-arrays for the determined number to each of the user terminals. This structure is capable of preventing interference among beams for user terminals and providing excellent communication quality to the user terminals even in condition where the user terminals are adjacent to each other.

Disclosed is an antenna device in which an excitation phase changing unit () for changing the excitation phases of element antennas (-) to (-) by controlling phase shifters (-) to (-) dependently on preset phase values is disposed, and every time the excitation phases are changed by the excitation phase changing unit (), a radiation pattern forming unit () shifts the phases of a sum signal and a difference signal, and forms a monopulse sum pattern by time-integrating the sum signal after phase shift and also forms a monopulse difference pattern by time-integrating the difference signal after phase shift.

The waveguide slot array antenna apparatus includes a waveguide slot array antenna formed of a rectangular antenna waveguide which has a rectangular section orthogonal to a tube axis, in which: the rectangular antenna waveguide has one end side thereof in a tube axial direction serving as a feeding port and another end side short-circuited; the antenna waveguide has a plurality of slender rectangular opening portions for radiating or receiving an electromagnetic wave arranged at intervals of about &#x3bb;g/2 (&#x3bb;g is an intra-tube wavelength) along the tube axis on a first wide plane of a pair of wide planes that are parallel to the tube axis; the plurality of slender rectangular opening portions each have the same predetermined angle with respect to a center line parallel to the tube axis of the first wide plane; the opening portions adjacent to one another are alternately arranged at opposite positions with respect to the center line; the opening portions located on one side with respect to the center line of the first wide plane each have a length longer than about &#x3bb;f/2 (&#x3bb;f is a free space wavelength), and the opening portions located on another side each have a length shorter than about &#x3bb;f/2.
