A laser beam emitting unit includes a laser diode, a collimating lens upon which a laser beam emitted by the laser diode is incident, a base plate to which the laser diode is fixed, a lens holder which holds the collimating lens, and a holder support plate via which the lens holder is fixed to the base plate. The holder support plate includes a flat portion which faces the base plate with a gap between the flat portion and the base plate, and at least two leg portions which extend from the flat portion to the base plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to the flat portion. Each of the at least two leg portions includes a claw portion which is deformed to be fixed to the base plate, wherein the gap is maintained between the flat portion and the base plate.

Laser beam emitting unit

An optical deflection device is used to deflect a light beam, such as a laser beam, and comprises a base member, a movable member having an optical deflection element, and a set of spring elements provided at respective sides of the movable member such that the movable member is resiliently supported by the spring elements with respect to the base member. An electromagnetic driver rotationally drives the movable member with respect to the base member, and includes first and second sets of permanent magnets provided on the base member to produce first and second magnetic fields. The fields are reversed with respect to each other. The driver further includes first and second electromagnetic coils provided on the movable member and disposed in the fields. The respective first and second coils are electrically energized in the first and second fields in such a manner that electric currents flow through the first and second coils in opposite directions, whereby the respective first and second coils are subjected to rotational forces in the same rotational direction.

Optical deflection device having electromagnetic driver assembled therein for rotationally driving optical deflection element

A transmission type optical deflector wherein a prism holder is supported by a yoke member to rotate about a principal axis through an elastic device. A wedge-shaped transmission prism is provided on the prism holder to transmit and refract light. The prism holder and yoke member are respectively provided with a coil and a permanent magnet secured thereto, to produce a rotational motion of the prism holder in the forward and reverse directions about the principal axis due to an electromagnetic function. The transmission prism is partly cut away at the thick portion thereof so that the center of gravity of the transmission prism is identical to the principal axis in a section in which the principal axis appears as a point and the transmission prism appears as a wedge-shape.

Transmission type optical deflector

A recording paper including a color varying layer which normally exhibits a predetermined color and a substrate layer having a color different from that of the color varying layer, wherein the predetermined color disappears when a beam of specific wavelength is incident thereon.

Recording paper and recording apparatus using same

An optical scanning device includes a laser source, an optical deflector which deflects scanning beams emitted from the laser source in a main scanning direction toward an object to be scanned, and a reflecting mirror which reflects the scanning beams. A beam detector which receives the scanning beams reflected by the reflecting mirror and a correcting lens which is provided between the reflecting mirror and the beam detector and which has a power at least in the main scanning direction are also provided. An adjusting lens holder is provided for adjusting the position of the correcting lens in the main scanning direction upon assembly so that an incident timing of the scanning beams onto the beam detector can be adjusted.

Optical scanning device

Disclosed is an imaging device which uses a recording paper composed of a base paper exhibiting a color and a photoconductlvely-color-changing layer formed thereon and includes an optical system for introducing a light having a specific wavelength to the recording paper based on image information. The photoconductively-color-changing layer is composed of a photoconductively-color-changing agent having the characteristic that the agent usually exhibits a specific color different from that of the base layer and is changed to colorless and transparent by being irradiated with the light having the specific wavelength.

Imaging device

A light scanning device having a light source being electrically ON/OFF controlled, deflection member such as a polygon mirror for deflecting light emitted from the light source to perform scanning operation, a first lens for correcting scanning speed of light deflected by the deflection member on a scanning surface, a second lens for correcting astigmatism of the first lens and/or for compensating tilt of the surface of the polygon mirror, a base plate for separately mounting thereon the first and second lenses with predetermined positional relations, and a housing case for mounting thereon the light source, the deflection member and the base plate with predetermined positional relations. The first and second lenses are seated on the base plate in such a fashion that they satisfy the positional relations with other optical components when the base plate is installed on the housing case. The position of the second lens on the base plate is separately adjusted with placing the base plate on an adjusting device so as to prove sufficient optical performance required for light scanning operation.

Installation of optical components in an optical device

Installing of an optical component on a housing case. One side of the optical component to be installed is abutted to a reference surface formed on the housing case for positional regulation thereof. A heat-fusible protrusion is formed on the housing case at the position which is opposed to the reference surface and has a vertical length enough to be beyond the top surface of the optical component seated on the housing case. Heat is applied to at least a part of the fusible protrusion to be fused onto the optical component with abutting the one side of the optical component to the reference surface. The fused portion is let to be hardened for regulating the position of the other end of the optical component, whereby the optical component is fixed onto the housing case with regulating the posture thereof in the direction crossing to the reference surface.

Installation of optical component in optical device

A lens unit having a hollow holder and a lens member coupled in the hollow holder in which the lens member has an outer surrounding wall portion integrally formed with the lens member, the outer surrounding wall portion extending along an axis of the lens member, and an outer surface of the outer surrounding wall portion being coupled with an inner wall surface of the hollow holder, whereby the lens member can be prevented from falling or rolling when it is installed in the hollow holder.

Lens installation in an optical device

A fluorescent lamp having an improved starting performance, especially at low temperatures. A gas under a low pressure is sealed in a glass tube having a pair of electrodes mounted thereon, and a fluorescent material is coated on the inner surface of the glass tube, the fluorescent material being activated to emit light by a discharge between the pair of electrodes. A third electrode is provided between the pair of electrodes, the third electrode being connected to one of the pair of electrodes.
