A recording device for performing recording supporting an optical disk-shaped recording medium having a laminated structure includes a first recording layer and a second recording layer. The recording device includes: a recording section configured to record data in the first recording layer and the second recording layer by irradiating the optical disk-shaped recording medium with laser light; a recording control section configured to control the recording section so as to perform recording in the first recording layer first and next perform recording in the second recording layer when the recording is performed sequentially on the optical disk-shaped recording medium; a pseudo defect area setting section configured to set a pseudo defect area in the second recording layer; and a defect registering section configured to register the real defect area and the pseudo defect area as a defect area.

Recording device and recording method

An EPL maker () is composed mainly of editing terminals (), () and () each reading and decoding each of highly compressed sub materials to produce a material data and make an EPL while displaying, on a monitor, a video based on the material data. When a reference tape tension is changed progressively from a current tape tension to a target tape tension, a tape tension can be made to approach the reference tape tension rapidly and reliably regardless of the magnitude of the difference between the current tape tension and the target tape tension. A tape servo apparatus detects a current tape tension, compares the detected current tape tension with the reference tape tension and regulates the tape tension in response to the comparison between the detected current tape tension and the reference tape tension while the reference tape tension is gradually changed from the current tape tension to the target tape tension, preferably, in a step-wise fashion. The current tape tension is thereby corrected so the system maintains the desired tape tension.
