A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel that includes red color filters, green color filters, and blue color filters; and an illumination device that illuminates the liquid crystal display panel with white light. The illumination device includes light-emitting elements that emit blue light, a green phosphor that absorbs a portion of the blue light emitted from the light-emitting elements and then emits green light, and a red phosphor that absorbs a portion of the blue light emitted from the light-emitting elements and then emits red light. The blue color filters are made of a colored material that contains a dye, and the chromaticity values x and y of the white light emitted from the illumination device satisfy the relationships 0.24&#x3c;x and 0.24&#x3c;y.

Liquid crystal display apparatus

To provide a circuit for reducing an afterglow of secondary light, a circuit includes an LED () which includes an LED chip () and a KSF phosphor (), and a first output circuit () and a second output circuit () which are coupled to a cathode (C). When a PWM signal goes to 'H', the first output circuit is driven thereby making IF flow from the cathode. When the PWM signal goes to 'L', the first output circuit stops driving, and the second output circuit makes an offset current flow from the cathode.

Light emitting diode lamp and light emitting diode display unit

An LED display panel including a plurality of LEDs arranged in a matrix, a plurality of lighting data lines connecting the LEDs in either one of a row direction and a column direction, and a plurality of scanning lines connecting the LEDs in the other one of the row direction and the column direction. At least either the lighting data lines or the scanning lines connect the LEDs such that the lighting data lines or the scanning lines form groups of at least two lines crossing in a staggered configuration.

LED display panel and LED display apparatus

A semiconductor light emitting device has a blue LED and a green LED which each have a protection circuit connected in parallel thereto. The protection circuit has two Zener diodes that are connected in series in opposite directions to each other. When an AC voltage below a breakdown voltage of the protection circuit is applied to the semiconductor light emitting device and when the voltage is in forward direction, a current passes through the blue and green LEDs to emit lights. A current is intercepted by the protection circuit when the voltage is in reverse direction. When an high AC voltage above a breakdown voltage of the protection circuit is applied, a current passes through the protection circuit whether the current in forward direction or in reverse direction, so that the green and blue LEDs are protected. Even when the semiconductor light emitting devices are connected to one another in a matrix form and subject to dynamic driving, a leakage current is intercepted by the protection circuits. The semiconductor light emitting device has a red LED which is connected in series to voltage compensating diodes. The voltage compensating diodes increase an apparent forward direction threshold voltage of the red LED to compensate difference in forward direction threshold voltages among the blue, green and red LEDs.
