A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed. The material comprises a support having provided on the same surface thereof microcapsules containing a basic colorless dye and an organic solvent, and a developer capable of reacting with the basic colorless dye to develop a color, the capsule walls of said microcapsules being impermeable to either of the basic colorless dye and the developer at room temperature but becoming permeable to the colorless dye and/or the developer upon application of heat. The organic solvent is a compound containing at least two benzene rings in the molecule thereof with a total number of at least one hetero atom selected from nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and phosphorus atoms, if any, being less than 1/10 a total number of carbon atoms of the organic solvent. The material is excellent in preservability before and after recording and is excellent in heat-developability.

Heat-sensitive recording material

A recording material comprising a support having provided thereon, microcapsules containing a basic leuco dye dissolved in an organic solvent is disclosed. The microcapsules further contains at least one compound selected from the group consisting of 2-mercaptobenzothiazoles, guanidines, thioureas, 2-mercaptoimidazolines and thiurams. The recording material is free from coloration due to exposure to light and provides a recorded image of high density and high contrast.

A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed, comprising a support having provided thereon a heat-sensitive recording layer containing microcapsules containing a color former and an organic solvent as core materials and a color developer exterior thereto, the wall of said microcapsules being impermeable to both of the color former and the color developer at room temperature but becoming permeable to at least one of the color former and color developer upon the application of heat, wherein the heat-sensitive recording layer further contains a pigment having an average particle size greater than that of the microcapsules. The material exhibits improved handling and running properties.

A heat-sensitive recording material is described, comprising a recording layer containing a diazo compound and a coupling component provided on a support, wherein one of said diazo compound and said coupling component is contained in microcapsules together with an organic solvent having a dielectric constant of from 5.2 to 7.5.

A process for producing a photographic paper is described, comprising coating a composition containing an unsaturated organic compound capable of being polymerized by irradiation with electron beams and an inorganic white pigment on the surface of a web support, and, after hardening the coated layer by irradiation with electron beams, coating thereon a photographic emulsion, wherein the improvement comprises performing the irradiation with electron beams while pressing the web support on a roll having a curvature radius of from 25 cm to 250 cm with the coated layer with said layer in a convexly curled state, and coating the photosensitive emulsion on the convexly curled surface of the web support.

Process for producing photographic supports by electron beam exposure

A process for producing supports for a photographic paper which comprises applying a layer of a composition containing an unsaturated organic compound capable of being polymerized or hardened upon irradiation with electron beams and an inorganic white pigment to a support, irradiating the layer with a first irradiation with electron beams to imcompletely harden the unsaturated organic compound, pressing the incompletely hardened layer against the surface of a roll to transfer the surface configuration of the roll to the layer, and then further irradiating the layer with a second irradiation with electron beams to more fully harden the unsaturated organic compound in the layer.

A process for the preparation of a photographic resin-coated paper which comprises subjecting a paper sheet to corona discharge treatment or flame treatment, and then coating the so treated paper sheet with polyolefin resin containing titanium dioxide powder coated with an alcohol having 2-18 carbon atoms and 2-4 hydroxyl groups.

An electrostatographic toner material suitably employable for the pressure fixing process, which comprises encapsulated toner particles having an average particle size in the range from about 0.5 to 1,000 microns, in which the toner particle comprises a pressure fixable adhesive core material containing a colorant and a curable substance and a pressure rupturable shell enclosing the core material, the outer surface of the shell being provided with a curing agent capable of curing said curable substance. A pressure sensitive recording sheet having thereon a layer of fine oil microcapsules produced by the process which comprises dispersing or emulsifying finely in a polar solvent an oily liquid containing a substantially colorless color former capable of reacting with a developer to form a colored product and a polyisocyanate adduct having a free isocyanate group and adding to the dispersion or emulsion of the oil droplets a polyamine or a polyamine adduct having a free amino group as a polymerization promotor, whereby the polymerization of the polyisocyanate adduct is caused from the outer side of each oil droplet to encapsulate the oil droplet by the insolubilized polyisocyanate adduct. By this process the size of the microcapsules can be controlled quite easily.

Microcapsules containing a hydrophobic liquid are prepared by emulsifying the hydrophobic liquid in a hydrophilic liquid immiscible therewith, polymerizing at least one capsule wall-forming substance present in the continuous phase, and depositing the resulting polymer around the droplets of the hydrophobic liquid thereby to envelop the hydrophobic liquid droplets from outside, wherein prior to the step of emulsifying the hydrophobic liquid, a deposition promotor is caused to be present in the droplets of the hydrophobic liquid so as to promote the deposition of the polymer.

In a process for preparing oil-containing microcapsules comprising cooling a coacervate dispersion of a gelatin-containing colloid deposited around individual oil droplets to cause gelation of the colloid and subsequently hardening the gelled colloid by adding to the dispersion a hardening agent and adjusting the pH to the alkaline region, the improvement which comprises adding to the dispersion, after gelation but prior to hardening, an aqueous solution of an anionic high molecular weight electrolyte and an aqueous solution of an anionic surface active agent. Specific electrolytes and specific surface active agents are disclosed.
