Optical pickup and information device

An information terminal such as a PDA (personal digital assistant) having a plurality of display screens in particular. The information terminal is provided with a plurality of display devices stored so that they can be developed in a main unit of the information terminal. The information terminal includes a controller which controls start and display of any application displayed on each of the display devices. The controller displays a plurality of applications in a predetermined order each time the display devices are developed.

Information terminal and information terminal control method

An optical integrated apparatus is used in an optical pickup apparatus which irradiates a light emitted by a light emitting device to an optical information record medium, on which record information is recorded, and receives a reflection light reflected from the optical information record medium. The optical integrated apparatus is provided with: a substrate; a light wave coupler for respectively generating a transmitted light and a guided light out of the reflection light; a light guide path for propagating the guided light; a first light receiving portion for receiving the transmitted light; and a second light receiving portion for receiving a radiant light which is generated out of the guided light and is directed toward the substrate due to a phase matching from the light guide path. The light wave coupler, the light guide path, the first light receiving portion and the second light receiving portion are laminated on the substrate. The first light receiving portion and the second light receiving portion are formed in a same layer on the substrate.

Optical apparatus with laser light receiver and focus error generator in the same layer

An optical integrated device is used in an optical pickup device which irradiates a light onto an optical information storage medium and receives a reflected light reflected by the storage medium. The optical integrated device includes: a light wave coupling element for generating at least a guided light from the reflected light; an optical waveguide unit for propagating the guided light, the optical waveguide unit including a multiple optical waveguides and at least a clad layer formed between the optical waveguides; and a light receiving element for receiving the light from the optical waveguide unit.

Optical integrated device and manufacturing method thereof

A light guide path element is provided with: a first light guide path for guiding a light beam having a first wavelength; a second light guide path for guiding a light beam having a second wavelength; a first separating device for irradiating the light beam having the first wavelength irradiated from a first light source onto an information record medium and transmitting a light beam reflected therefrom; a second separating device for irradiating the light beam having the second wavelength irradiated from a second light source onto an information record medium and transmitting a light beam reflected therefrom; a first grating for input-coupling one portion of the light beam transmitted through the first separating device to the first light guide path and transmitting another portion of the light beam transmitted through the first separating device; a second grating for input-coupling one portion of the light beam transmitted through the second separating device to the second light guide path and transmitting another portion of the light beam transmitted through the second separating device; a first light receiving portion for receiving the light beam transmitted through the first grating or the second grating; a second light receiving portion for receiving the light beam guided by the first light guide path; and a third light receiving portion for receiving the light beam guided by the second light guide path.

Light guide path element and optical pickup

The light beam emitted by the light source is irradiated on the information storage medium via the optical system. The reflected light beam is irradiated by the light guide path element. Then by the grating, a part of the light beam is input-coupled with the waveguide layer while the remaining part is transmitted and received by the light receiving portion below. An adjustment is made such that the coupling efficiency to the waveguide layer by the first grating pattern is maximized when the relative distance between the information storage medium and the optical system increases, and the coupling efficiency to the waveguide layer by the second grating pattern is maximized when the relative distance between the information storage medium and the optical system decreases. In the light receiving portion, divided according to the respective grating patterns, the received light quantity becomes minimum when the respective coupling efficiencies are maximum.
