In a sheet discharge mechanism for enabling a wide range of sheets stored on a sheet discharge tray from a processing section, a brake lever for reducing a velocity of a sheet fed from a sheet discharge outlet is held detachably relative to an attachment frame above the sheet discharge tray, and it is possible to select whether brake action is made corresponding to sheet discharge conditions. A sheet discharge mechanism includes a sheet discharge path having a sheet discharge outlet, a sheet discharge tray disposed on the downstream side of the sheet discharge outlet with a level difference, and a brake section of a sheet carried out at the sheet discharge outlet, wherein the brake section includes a lever member in which its base end portion is axially supported by an attachment frame, and its front end portion moves up and down corresponding to a load amount of sheets.

Mechanism for discharging sheets in apparatus for processing sheets and apparatus for reading images provided with the mechanism

Provided are: an illumination device having a configuration in which a temperature rise of a radiation member is suppressed in a limited volume to thereby maintain a temperature of an LED at a predetermined value or less and an image reading device provided with the illumination device. In order to release heat generated by the LED from a substrate on which the LED is mounted, a first heat radiation plate () and a second heat radiation plate () are provided on both sides of the LED-mounted substrate; the second heat radiation plate (), the LED-mounted substrate, and the first heat radiation plate () are installed in this order on a second frame () that supports the LED-mounted substrate, first and second heat radiation plates () and (); a fan is disposed on the first heat radiation plate () side; when viewing the second frame () in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction thereof, a cross-sectional profile of the second heat radiation plate () has an area protruding with respect to a cross-sectional profile of the first heat radiation plate (); and the configuration is such that wind from the fan is aggressively blown against the first and second heat radiation plates () and ().

Illumination device and image reading device using said illumination device

A sheet supply device includes a sheet supply tray, a delivery roller contacting a topmost surface of a sheet bundle on the sheet supply tray to deliver the sheet, and separation means feeding the sheet delivered by the delivery roller one by one in a separated manner. The sheet supply device further includes an elevating tray freely elevated/lowered to support a leading end side of the sheet bundle placed on the sheet supply tray and to move the topmost surface of the sheet bundle to a delivery position, a first drive section elevating/lowering the elevating tray, a second drive section elevating/lowering the delivery roller, and a controller controlling the first and second drive sections to elevate the elevating tray until the topmost surface of the sheet bundle reaches the delivery position and thereafter lower the delivery roller to a position contacting the topmost surface of the sheet bundle.

Paper supply device

A document reading device is capable of facilitating attachment/detachment of a reading unit provided inside a U-shaped document conveying path formed in a document conveying device. The document reading device includes a U-shaped document conveying path extending from a sheet supply tray to a sheet discharge tray through a reading section and a reading unit disposed inside the U-shaped document conveying path, a downstream part of the sheet supply tray on which a document is placed and a guide member provided upstream of the document conveying path to continue from the sheet supply tray and is arranged to be attachable/detachable with respect to the sheet supply tray or document conveying path. The reading unit is removable from inside the U-shaped document conveying path through an opening through which the downstream part of the sheet supply tray and guide member of the document conveying path are removed.

Document reading device

A sheet conveying device includes a conveying path along which a sheet is conveyed. First and second conveying roller pairs are arranged on the conveying path at a predetermined distance from each other. Overlapping conveyance sensing devices are located between the first and second conveying roller pairs and include opposing transmission device and reception device. A distance between the first and second conveying roller pairs is shorter than a length of a minimum size sheet in a conveying direction. In the conveying path between the conveying roller pairs, guide members are disposed to sandwich the transmission device and reception device. The guide members are configured to project upward or downward from a sheet conveying line by a predetermined amount with respect to the conveying path, the sheet conveying line extending through nip points of the first and second conveying roller pairs.

Sheet conveying device and image processing apparatus

A document data capturing device includes a sheet supply tray for carrying documents, a sheet discharge tray located below the sheet supply tray, and a document conveying mechanism including a conveying path along which documents are guided from the sheet supply tray to the sheet discharge tray. The document data capturing device includes a first data-capturing unit and a second data-capturing unit which scan respective sides of a document conveyed by the document conveying mechanism. The first data-capturing unit and the second data-capturing unit are each configured with a reduction-optics scanning mechanism. The conveying path along which a document to be scanned by the first and second scanning mechanisms is conveyed is formed to surround the second reduction-optics data-capturing unit. Thus, the device can be made compact.

Document data capturing device

Provided is a document reading apparatus in which an original document fed by feeding means to contact glass having a predetermined reading position is read by reading means. Then, the document reading apparatus is provided with a guide unit having a guide member for guiding the original document to be fed to the contact glass, and a backup unit to back up the original document to be read, and the guide unit is configured to be able to travel between a close position to near the contact glass and an open position to distance from the contact glass. In the guide unit is formed a concave portion for removably accommodating the backup unit, and the backup unit is configured so that an original document guide face of the guide member and an original document guide face in the backup unit form a continuous guide face when the guide unit travels to the close position. Then, the guide unit is moved to the open position to perform cleaning of the backup unit and contact glass. Further, the backup unit is removed to perform maintenance.

Document reading apparatus

A sheet transport apparatus includes a transport roller for transporting a sheet to the processing section, a driving motor for driving the transport roller, and a driving transmission mechanism. The driving transmission mechanism includes a rotary shaft, a transmission rotary member having a circular fit hole, a holder member with a press-fit hole having a curved part and a flat part, and a coupling mechanism for coupling the holder member and the transmission rotary member. The rotary shaft includes a fitting part having a circular cross section at one end side to be fitted into the circular fit hole, and a press-fit part having a curved part and a flat part press-fitted with the press-fit hole. The coupling mechanism includes a convex portion formed on a side of the transmission rotary member, and a concave portion formed on a side of the holder member press-fitted with the convex portion.

Sheet transport apparatus and image reading apparatus

Document feeder and image capturing device preventing empty stamping associated with improper positioning of printing unit. Document feeder A, conveying document originals from a document placement location, along a predetermined conveyance path (), and to a document information-capturing location (), is furnished with: a printing unit (), which is shiftable along the document widthwise direction approximately orthogonal to the document conveyance direction, and is for carrying out predetermined printing onto conveyed documents; and a detection unit (S), provided in the conveyance path further upstream in the conveyance direction than the printer unit (), that detects whether a conveyed document will pass inside the limits of the range in which the printer unit () prints.

Document feeder and image capturing device

An image reading apparatus equipped with an image reading apparatus unit (B) provided a platen () and reading means () that reads an original, a document feeder (A) provided conveyance paths (P), (P), and (P) leading from a sheet supply tray () to a discharge tray () via the platen () on a top surface of the image reading apparatus unit (B), a hinge device () that openably connects the document feeder (A) to a top surface of the image reading apparatus unit (B), wherein an image reading unit () is equipped in the document feeder (A), and the image reading unit () is integrally connected to a support member fastened to the hinge device (). This configuration prevents mispositioning or misalignment of a reading line of the image reading unit () caused by repeated opening and closing of the document feeder (A).

Image reading apparatus

Sheet feeding device including: a tray unit having a feeding tray for supporting a loaded-on document's trailing end, and a tilting tray for supporting its leading end; a feeding unit that feeds loaded-on documents from off the feeding and tilting trays; and an elevating mechanism that raises/lowers the tilting tray between the positions where documents are set onto and fed from it. The tilting tray is elevated by a lever that comes out of an opening in a feeding-unit cover, in which state the tray unit, which is pivotable with respect to the sheet feeding unit, is kept from pivoting. Otherwise, when the tray unit is pivoted upward from or returned to the load-on document position, tilting-tray movement, in conjunction with the pivoting action, with respect to the feeding tray is restrained.

Sheet feeding device with governing, elevating, and restraining tilting-tray parts

An image reading apparatus includes a reading unit having contact glass through which an image is read from a document, backup glass located opposite the contact glass of the reading unit so as to form a conveying path between the backup glass and the contact glass through which the document is passed, a white member located on a rear surface side of the backup glass which is different from a contact glass side of the backup glass, a support plate that allows the white member to pivot between a position where the white member stands opposite the contact glass via the backup glass and a retract position where the white member is retracted from the position where the white member stands opposite the contact glass, and a regulating member provided between the backup glass and the white member so as to create a specified gap between the white member and the rear surface of the transparent member. Thus, a fixed distance is always maintained between the movable white member, located opposite the reading position, and the document reading surface. As a result, accurate shading correction data is acquired.

An automatic document feed device having reading means for stopping a conveyed document to a reading position on a platen and sequentially reading images of two sides of the document one side by one, includes an adjusting unit, provided upstream of the reading position on the platen, for adjusting an edge of the document, wherein the adjusting unit have a function for adjusting the edge of the document which is fed to read one side, and for reversing the document through the platen and adjusting the edge of the document which is fed again to read the other side of the document. A feed unit includes one of feed guide members and a feed roller in the feed path. The feed path unit is rotatably supported, thereby enabling the feed path to open.

Simple and compact automatic document feed device containing a single adjusting unit

A sheet transport apparatus includes a transport path for transporting a sheet, and drive and follower roller units disposed in the transport path. The drive roller unit has a drive shaft and at least two drive rollers arranged on the drive shaft in a direction perpendicular to a sheet transport direction. The follower roller unit has a follower shaft and at least two follower rollers contacting the at least two drive rollers. An urging device is attached to the follower shaft for pressing the at least two follower rollers to the at least two drive rollers in a direction with a predetermined angle with respect to the drive shaft.

Sheet feeding apparatus and image reading apparatus equipped with the same

A sheet supplying apparatus includes a sheet feeding stacker for storing the sheet; a sheet discharging stacker arranged in parallel to the sheet feeding stacker in a vertical direction for storing the sheet; a U-shape conveying path disposed between the sheet feeding stacker to the sheet discharging stacker for guiding the sheet from the sheet feeding stacker to the sheet discharging stacker; a processing platen disposed in the conveying path for processing the sheet; a separating device for separating the sheet on the sheet feeding stacker; a register device for temporarily stopping the sheet and conveying the sheet; a sheet feeding device for conveying the sheet; and a sheet conveying device for conveying the sheet. A sheet discharging device discharges the sheet to the sheet discharging stacker, and an idle roller is disposed in the U-shape conveying path for contacting the sheet to rotate.
