The present invention pertains to a friction transmission belt that includes a core cable. The core cable includes a cord comprising: a core yarn containing high elastic-modulus fibers; and a plurality of sheath yarns that are disposed around the core yarn and that contain low elastic-modulus fibers. The cord is twisted and the proportion of the average diameter of the sheath yarn to the average diameter of the core yarn is 0.2 to 0.4.

The present invention relates to a V-ribbed belt that includes carbon-fiber twisted cords as core wires, the V-ribbed belt having a tensile elasticity of 240-500 N/(mm·%), and the core wire diameter of the core wires being 0.6-1.2 mm. The V-ribbed belt may have a tensile strength of 620 N/mm or more per 1 mm width of the belt.

The present invention relates to a frictional power transmission belt containing an extensible layer to form a belt back surface, a compressive layer formed on one surface of the extensible layer and having a power transmission surface at least a part of which can be in contact with pulleys, and a tension member embedded between the extensible layer and the compressive layer along a belt length direction, in which at least the compressive layer is formed of a rubber composition containing a polymer component, short fibers and a surfactant and in which the short fibers contain at least short fibers of water-absorbing fibers.

The present invention relates to a V-ribbed belt to be wound around plural pulleys and used, including an extension layer that forms a back surface of the V-ribbed belt, a compression layer provided on one surface of the extension layer and having plural ribs extending parallel to each other along a longitudinal direction of the V-ribbed belt, and a load carrying cord embedded between the extension layer and the compression layer along the longitudinal direction of the V-ribbed belt, in which a distance from an outer peripheral portion of the load carrying cord on the rib side to a tip portion of the rib is from 2.0 to 2.6 mm, and a distance from the outer peripheral portion of the load carrying cord on the rib side to a bottom portion of the rib is from 0.3 to 1.2 mm.

A power transmission belt having a body with a length, an inside, an outside, and at least one rib on the inside of the body. A canvas layer is provided on the outside of the body. The canvas layer is a plain weave canvas made up of cotton fiber and synthetic fiber which are present in a proportion such that there is at least as much synthetic fiber as there is cotton fiber in the canvas layer. The canvas layer has warp and weft yarns, each with center lines which cross to be biased with respect to the length of the body. The canvas layer is adhered to the body without performing a tentering treatment on the canvas layer.
