An outboard motor has a V-type engine in which in which a plurality of cylinders are arranged in a V-shape, a crankshaft is arranged substantially vertically, and an overhead valve (OHV)-type valve train is mounted. This outboard motor also includes an air intake system in which a carburetor is arranged above the engine and in a space of a V bank between the cylinders.

A fuel cooling apparatus of an outboard motor with a water-cooled engine having a vapor separator, a fuel injector positioned to supply a fuel from the vapor separator into the engine, a high pressure fuel pump positioned in the vapor separator to feed the fuel under pressure to the fuel injector, and a pressure regulator positioned in the vapor separator to reduce a pressure of a return fuel, the fuel cooling apparatus including a fuel cooler having fuel and cooling water passages arranged side by side in parallel, the fuel passage interposed in a high pressure return fuel hose branched off from a high pressure fuel hose connecting the high pressure fuel pump and fuel injector and connected to upstream of the pressure regulator, the cooling water passage being positioned to circulate cooling water for cooling the engine to cool the fuel in the fuel passage.

Four-cycle outboard motor

The present invention seeks to provide a four-cycle outboard motor that has a simple construction and a compact design. According to the present invention, the outboard motor having a crankshaft disposed substantially vertically within the engine , wherein the rotation of this crankshaft is transmitted to a valve camshafts via a looped member disposed at the bottom of the engine , comprises an oil pump disposed at a position other than the shaft center position of the crankshaft or the camshafts at the bottom of the engine , wherein either this oil pump or a tension adjuster of the looped member is disposed to the inside of the looped member in plan view while the other is disposed outside of the looped member in plan view.

An outboard motor has an air intake manifold arranged on one side of the engine, and fuel flow path components that supply fuel from the fuel tank to the engine arranged together on one side of the air intake manifold.

An outboard motor includes an engine which is covered by an engine cover which is formed with a cylindrical air suction port having an opening opened to an upper surface of the engine cover in a state of the outboard motor mounted to a hull, and a portion of an opening area of the opening is covered by a lid member which is formed to a rear edge portion of the opening.

An outboard motor having an oil pan positioned on the underside of the engine, and having an exhaust passage, a water supply passage for cooling water, and a wastewater passage extending down from the engine and passing near the oil pan. The exhaust passage, the water supply passage, and the wastewater passage are molded as a single unit with the oil pan, and provide a simple, lightweight structure that does not result in an increase in the number of parts or assembly man hours necessary for construction. The oil pan is protected from exhaust heat by the water passages, and a flush port to clean the cooling system is easily accessible.

A sealing structure is provided for an outboard motor in which an engine is disposed on an upper portion of an engine holder in a state of an outboard motor mounted to a hull, an oil pan is mounted to a lower portion of the engine holder, and the engine, the engine holder and the oil pan are covered with an engine cover unit. The sealing structure for an outboard motor for providing a waterproof sealing portion comprises a seal flange provided for at least either one of the engine holder and the oil pan so as to project outward, a sealing member formed of an elastic material and mounted to the seal flange from an outside portion thereof, a horizontal rib horizontally projecting in a mounted state over an inner surface of the engine cover so as to be brought into contact to either one of upper and lower surfaces of the sealing member, and a plurality of vertical ribs disposed at a side opposite to the horizontal rib with respect to the seal flange, the vertical rib vertically projecting in a mounted state over the inner surface of the engine cover with the sealing member being interposed and clamped between the horizontal rib and the vertical rib.

Sealing structure for outboard motor

An outboard motor comprises, in an installed or mounted state, an engine holder, an engine located to an upper portion of the engine holder, a drive shaft housing located to a lower portion of the engine holder for housing a drive shaft extending downward from the engine, and an oil pan formed to the engine holder, the oil pan being provided with a wall section to which steering brackets are secured through upper mounts. A first seal member is disposed at a mating surface portion of an upper surface of the drive shaft housing and a lower surface of the oil pan and a second seal member is disposed at a mating surface of an upper surface of the oil pan and a lower surface of the engine to thereby expose the drive shaft between the first and second seal members.
