A liquid crystal display unit has a transmissive liquid crystal plate having a number of pixels arranged on a two-dimensional basis, on which an image is formed, and a light source unit emitting beams of light of a plurality of luminescent colors for irradiating said liquid crystal plate from back. An interface circuit receives an image signal representative of a color image to sequentially form on said liquid crystal plate a plurality of separation images in which the color image is separated in association with the plurality of luminescent colors of said light source unit. The interface circuit causes said light source unit to flash with a luminescent color associated with a separation image formed on said liquid crystal plate in synchronism with a sequential formation of the separation images onto said liquid crystal plate. Beams of light emanated from the light source unit and transmitted through the liquid crystal plate reproduce an image.

A zoom ratio adjusting device includes a member movable between a telephoto end position and a wide-angle end position on opposite sides of a neutral position which is provided with a first and a second elastic arm, each arm being deformable while the zoom ratio adjusting member moves toward each of the telephoto end and wide-angle end positions to accumulate reactive force for returning the member to the neutral position and to hold the zoom ratio adjusting member in the neutral position.

A camera having a sprocket with a pair of cogs formed on a periphery for engaging a filmstrip having a row of perforations separated at alternate short and long intervals. The periphery is divided by the cogs into a frictional engaging section which provides frictional engagement of the periphery with the filmstrip and a mechanical engaging section which provides mechanical engagement of the cogs with the perforations. A shutter charging mechanism is operated by rotation of the sprocket driven by the filmstrip through the mechanical engagement between the filmstrip and at least part of the mechanically engaging section of the sprocket. A switch over mechanism disconnects the sprocket and the shutter mechanism in response to rewinding the filmstrip and a locking mechanism prevents reverse rotation of the sprocket in a specific position.

A zoom lens is comprised of a fixed barrel, an intermediate barrel coupled to the fixed barrel through helicoid screws, a movable barrel coupled to the intermediate barrel through helicoid screws, a front lens group fixedly held in the movable barrel, and a rear lens group. The position of the front lens group in the optical axis direction is always determined by the axial movement of the intermediate barrel relative to the fixed barrel and the axial movement of the movable barrel relative to the intermediate barrel. The axial position of the rear lens group is determined by the axial movement of the intermediate barrel relative to the fixed barrel and a cam surface formed in an inner periphery of the intermediate barrel. As the axial position of the cam surface within the intermediate barrel changes with the rotational position of the intermediate barrel, the rear lens group moves in the axial direction relative to the intermediate barrel during zooming. But during focusing, a hindering device is activated to hinder the rear lens group from axial movement relative to the intermediate barrel, so that the rear lens group moves by the same amount in the axial direction as the intermediate barrel independently of the cam surface.

A photographic camera having an exposure frame at the rear end of a lens barrel. A camera body is molded integrally with the lens barrel. Flanks are formed by a pair of vertical surfaces lying in planes parallel to the optical axis on inner surfaces of the frame receiving surface at locations that define four corners of an exposure aperture so as to extend radially outward from the inner surface of the lens barrel adjacent the rear end thereof. An aperture frame is detachably mounted on the camera body from behind the camera to define the exposure aperture. The flanks formed adjacent the rear end of the lens barrel or the frame receiving surface are effective to prevent individual frames of film from being subjected to undesirable vignetting. The aperture frame is mounted on the camera body from behind. A pair of masking plates is provided for panoramic photography. The rear side of the camera body is provided along vertically opposite edges of the barrel's rear end with these masking plates, and the aperture frame is mounted on the rear side of the camera body behind these masking plates.

A zoom lens assembly has a stationary barrel, a middle barrel and a movable barrel. The middle barrel is formed on its outer periphery at a rear end thereof with a helicoidal thread, which engages with a helicoidal thread formed on the inner surface of the stationary barrel. The movable barrel holds a zoom lens system therein, and is formed on its outer periphery at a rear end portion with a helicoidal thread which engages with a helicoidal thread formed in the inner surface of the middle barrel. The middle barrel is provided at its rear end portion with a driven gear having a small face width. The driven gear meshes with a drive gear through a cut-out of the stationary barrel. Rotational movement of a zoom motor is transmitted to the driven gear of the middle barrel through the drive gear, so that the middle barrel is rotated to move in the direction of the optical axis of the assembly. The gearing portion of the drive gear moves along with the axial movement of the driven gear, so as to maintain the engagement between these gears.

Zoom lens assembly

A drive mechanism for a zoom lens system consisting of first and second lens groups has a movable lens barrel fixedly holding the first lens and cam structure consisting of a cam member provided on the second lens group and a cam follower member on the movable lens barrel. The movable lens barrel moves forward or rearward to shift the second lens group forward or rearward relative to the first lens group along the optical axis of the zoom lens system via the cam member so as to continuously change the focal length of the zoom lens system. The cam member is mounted on the movable lens barrel to change the curve of the cam surface relative to the cam follower member only in a middle focal length range.

Zoom lens drive mechanism of a camera

A camera with a zoom lens system having at least front and rear lens groups each comprising at least one lens, comprises a movable lens barrel holding the front lens group and being axially movable rearwardly and forwardly relative to a camera body and a moving mechanism for causing the axial movement of the movable lens barrel. The moving mechanism comprises a first cam member provided in the movable lens barrel and a rotatable lever coacting with the first cam member for causing the axial movement of the movable lens barrel, the first cam member having first and second straight cam sections for causing the axial movement of the movable lens barrel between front and rear axial positions and beyond the rear positions, respectively, and further comprises a second cam member provided in the camera body and a bell crank lever rotatably mounted on the movable lens barrel and coacting with the second cam member and the second lens group for shifting the rear lens group relative to the front lens group when the movable lens group is moved between the front and rear axial positions so as to change the zoom lens system between the longest and the shortest focal length and for moving the front and rear lens groups conjointly as a unit when the movable lens barrel is moved beyond the rear axial position, thereby collapsing the movable lens barrel at least almost fully within the camera body.

A camera is disclosed which is capable of winding and rewinding a film and adjusting a focal distance by use of a single motor. In the camera, the forward rotation of the motor is used to wind the film, and when the film winding operation is completed after termination of photographing, on detecting the end of the film, a torque detect mechanism switches a planetary clutch mechanism to connect the motor with a film rewinding mechanism. Thus, it is possible to perform both the film winding and rewinding operations by use of the rotation of the motor in the same direction. Also, when, with the planetary clutch mechanism connected with the film winding mechanism, the motor is rotated reversely, then the power transmission system is switched over to a focal distance varying mechanism, whereby the focal distance can be adjusted.

A water-resistant camera has a lens barrel movable toward and away from a fluid-tight camera body for selecting the position of the lens barrel between wide-angle and telephoto positions. The camera has or can be combined with an automatic air-pressure adjusting mechanism for automatically keeping the air pressure in the inner space of the camera at a substantially constant level irrespective of the position of the lens barrel between the wide-angle position and the telephoto position. Therefore, the lens barrel can smoothly be moved with respect to the camera body upon switching between the wide-angle and telephoto positions.

Water-resistant camera with automatic internal air-pressure adjustment

A stepping motor drives camera shutter sectors to open and close an exposure aperture. The stepping motor is rotated at a speed corresponding to an exposure value during the time between the start position of the shutter sectors and their position when they start opening the exposure aperture. After the sectors start opening the exposure aperture, the stepping motor is rotated at a constant speed not associated with the exposure value.

Exposure control apparatus for cameras

A device for feeding a film from a patrone in a camera, in which the film is fed by an endless caterpillar belt having pawls for engaging with film perforations. The caterpillar belt is positioned in a camera so as to match the film perforations between two film guides of the camera and is extended parallel to the film feeding direction. The caterpillar belt is driven by a set of a driving pulley and a driven pulley. The section of the pawls, taken along the film plane, is shaped to have a circular arc contour so as to contact only with the vicinity of the central portion of each film perforation.
