A sheet feeding apparatus with a recording device for recording an image on a sheet; a first feeding roller disposed at an upstream side of the recording device and adapted to pinch the sheet and to feed the sheet at a first feeding speed; a second feeding roller disposed at a downstream side of the recording device and adapted to pinch the sheet and to feed the sheet at a second feeding speed faster than the frist feeding speed; and a controller for controlling the first and second feeding roller and adapted to perform different controls in accordance with the state that the sheet is fed by both of the first and second feeding roller, or the state that the sheet is fed by either one of first and second feeding roller.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier for carrying an image, and a transfer medium bearing member for bearing and conveying a transfer medium to a transfer unit of said image carrier. The transfer medium bearing member is able to bear multiple transfer media concurrently. The apparatus includes transfer device for transferring the image of the image carrier onto the transfer medium borne on the transfer medium bearing member in the transfer unit, and a plurality of transfer media capable of being borne on the transfer medium bearing member concurrently, wherein in consecutively transferring the image onto the transfer media of the number not divisible by the maximum sheet bearing number by which said transfer medium bearing member is capable of bearing the transfer media concurrently. The number of transfer media that the transfer medium bearing member concurrently bears at the n-th time where n is a natural number equal to or greater than two, is not less than the number of transfer media that it bears concurrently at the n-1-th time. In transferring the image consecutively as above, the number of sheets that the transfer medium bearing member concurrently bears at the final time is greater than the number of transfer media that the transfer medium bearing member concurrently bears at the first time.

Image forming apparatus in which plural transfer media are carried

The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus in which a sheet is carried by a sheet carrier to form an image, and the sheet, on which the image has been formed, is again supplied to the sheet carrier by a re-supply unit to again form an image on the sheet. An object of the present invention is to improve a sheet conveying apparatus to enable a sheet again supplied by a re-supply unit to be easily carried by a sheet carrier. To achieve the object, the image forming apparatus according to the present invention has a curl forming unit for curling a sheet, which is being again supplied by the re-supply unit, in a direction in which the sheet can easily be carried by the sheet carrier.

The present invention provides an image forming apparatus with a first accommodating cassette for accommodating sheets, a second accommodating cassette arranged above the first accommodating cassette and adapted to accommodate sheets, an image forming device arranged above the second accommodating cassette and adapted to form an image on the sheet, a first sheet guide path for feeding the sheet from a first end of the first accommodating cassette to an image forming station, and a second sheet guide path for feeding the sheet from a second end of the second accommodating cassette and joined to the first sheet path. A curl correction device causes sheets from different cassettes to bend in the same direction.

An image information transmission system comprises a plurality of image information processing units for processing image information, an image information transmission line and a control information transmission line independent from the image information transmission line for transmitting control information related to the processing of the image information processing units. The control information can be transmitted even during the transmission of the image information.

A data transmission system has a data converter for converting character code data into dot image data, and/or vice versa. The data converter has a memory and a pattern generator and/or a character recognition apparatus to perform such conversion. An ozone filtering mechanism in an image forming apparatus such as office copiers, etc. and its arrangement, wherein various component elements disposed in the image forming apparatus in such a manner that a flow path for a discharge current of ozone gas generated from a corona discharger and a flow path for heat current from a heat source such as a light source, etc. may be centralized at one place, thereby enabling a single ozone filter to be disposed at this portion of the centralized flow paths for perfect ozone filtration. Presence of the heat current at the time of the ozone filtration promotes adsorption and decomposition of ozone to augment the filtering effect to the maximum possible extent.

A developing apparatus includes a developer vessel for supplying one-component magnetic toner as a developer, a movable developer carrier having a surface for receiving the developer, a magnetic thickness limiting member disposed close to the surface of the carrier, a fixed magnet positioned within the carrier with a magnetic pole in facing relationship with the limiting member, a mounting assembly for mounting the limiting member for movement toward and away from the facing magnet pole and including a lock for maintaining the limiting member at a predetermined distance from the carrier. The carrier is preferably a sleeve, the shaft ends of which are mounted on the reservoir, with the magnet journaled to the sleeve with one end extending through the associated sleeve shaft and having a rotation preventing member connected thereto. The sleeve is rotated through a driving connection between a gear mounted on a latent image bearing member and one associated with the sleeve. The developer vessel may include an outer lid with a magnetic seal and an inner lid having edges which define an aperture and block reverse developer flow. The apparatus may further include felt sealing elements located adjacent to the opposite ends of the sleeve to direct developer inwardly along the sleeve away from the sleeve ends.

In a copying apparatus wherein electrostatic latent images having color components of an original image are sequentially formed and developed on a moving photosensitive medium, there is provided exposure means for projecting therethrough an original image upon the photosensitive medium for exposure, filter means including a predetermined number of color resolving filter units selectively movable onto the projection path of the exposure means, image forming means disposed adjacent the photosensitive medium to form an image corresponding to the projected image, and program control means for causing the exposure means and filter means to cooperate together to control the image forming means in accordance with the color to be reproduced.

The disclosure describes a variable magnification optical mechanism in an image forming apparatus in which a varied image at a selected magnification of an original image is formed. A photosensitive body on which the varied image is exposed is moved at a definite speed (v) irrespective of the selected magnification (m) and optical means for transmitting the image of the original to the photosensitive body is driven at a speed ratio of v/m. The pre-running length (l) of the optical means is changed in accordance with the selected magnification (m) at a ratio of l/m so that coincidence of the original image and the variation image formed therefrom may be attained every time.

An image transfer device, in which a developed image formed on an image-bearing member is transferred therefrom to a transfer medium, comprises a corona discharge device opposed to the image-bearing member for imparting corona discharge, a device for gripping the leading end edge of the transfer medium, a support extending between the corona discharge device and the image-bearing member and supporting the gripping device for circulatory movement, and an element for confining the path of the transfer medium gripped and guided by the gripping device substantially within the path of that device.

An image transfer device for transferring an electro-photographically formed image onto a transfer medium comprises grip means for gripping the transfer medium, supporting and moving means for supporting the grip means and moving it cyclically in an endless form, feed means for feeding the transfer medium to be gripped by the grip means, the feed means having a movable paper guide plate disposed adjacent to the path of cyclical movement of the grip means, corona transfer means for transferring the image onto the transfer medium gripped by the grip means, separator means for separating the transfer medium from the grip means, transport means for transporting the separated transfer medium, and control means for causing all of the above-mentioned means to cooperate with one another.

In a copying machine having a stripping pawl bearing against a photosensitive medium, a separator device comprises a pair of separator-conveyor rollers disposed immediately behind the stripping pawl adjacent one end of the photosensitive medium. The rollers are rotatable at a peripheral speed substantially equal to that of the photosensitive medium and adapted to hold therebetween a transfer medium which has been partly separated from the photosensitive medium by the stripping pawl and to guide the transfer medium away from the photosensitive medium.

In a copying apparatus of the type having a movable original carriage, there is provided drive velocity changing means for changing the drive velocity of the original carriage relative to an image forming member. Movable optical means is provided which has at least a mirror and a lens. One or both of the mirror and the lens may be moved or changed over in response to the drive velocity changing means, thereby changing the magnification at which an original is copied.
