In a method for manufacturing a polarizing film comprising a polarizer, a first transparent protective film provided on one surface of the polarizer with an adhesive layer interposed therebetween, and a second transparent protective film provided on another surface of the polarizer with an adhesive layer interposed therebetween, the adhesive layers are obtained by first using active energy rays to carry out irradiation by way of the first transparent protective film and then using the active energy rays to carry out irradiation by way of the second transparent protective film to cure the active energy ray-curable adhesive composition.

An object of the invention is to provide an adhesive for a polarizing plate that has high adhering strength, makes it possible to prevent a reduction in the light transmittance of a polarizing plate and to suppress the occurrence of knicks, and is less likely to cause a reduction in the light transmittance of a polarizing plate even in a humidified environment while having the above characteristics. The invention is directed to an adhesive for a polarizing plate for use in fixing a transparent protective film on at least one side of a polarizer, the adhesive including a resin solution containing a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin and a water-soluble silicate.

A method of producing a polarizing plate according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: stretching and dyeing a laminate including a resin substrate and a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer formed on one side of the resin substrate to produce a polarizing film on the resin substrate; laminating a first protective film on the polarizing film on an opposite side to the resin substrate; and peeling the resin substrate, followed by laminating a second protective film on the polarizing film on a side from which the resin substrate has been peeled. The laminating of at least one of the first protective film and the second protective film is performed through an adhesive having a moisture content of 10% or less.

A resin (sea component) that constitutes the sea region of the sea-island structure comprises a dichroic dye, and a resin (island component) that constitutes the island regions of the sea-island structure is a transparent resin. The polarizing fiber of the present invention may be used as a forming material of a polarizer, for example. By using the above polarizing fiber, a polarizer wherein unevenness of the transmittance is small and cracks are less generated may be formed.

An adhesive of the present invention is used for polarizing plate to provide a transparent protective film on at least one side of a polarizer and comprises a resin solution comprising a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin, a crosslinking agent and a leveling agent containing an acetylene skeleton-containing compound, wherein 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of the leveling agent is added to 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin. The adhesive for polarizing plate can provide a satisfactory wettability when applied to transparent protective films and allows the production of polarizing plates to have water resistance at high temperature and satisfactory optical properties.
