A covering material for electric wire, and an insulated electric wire and a wiring harness including the same, wherein the wire including the covering material has a reduced diameter, is inserted into a connector. The covering material containing a polyvinyl chloride having, with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polyvinyl chloride, 10 to 20 parts by mass of a plasticizer, 1 to 6 parts by mass of a chlorinated polyethylene, and 1 to 6 parts by mass of an MBS resin, and a total amount of the chlorinated polyethylene and the MBS resin is 2 to 7 parts by mass. The wire has an external diameter of smaller than 1.1 mm, and has a conductorand an insulatorthat covers the conductor. The insulatoris made of the covering material, and has a thickness of 0.25 mm or smaller.

Covering material for electric wire, insulated electric wire, and wiring harness

To provide a composition for a wire coating member containing a non-crosslinked material at a low cost, which has superior flame retardancy, and is excellent in heat resistance, wear resistance and flexibility, and to provide an insulated wire and a wiring harness containing the composition. The composition contains (A) polypropylene, (B) a polyolefin elastomer, (C) a bromine flame retardant, (D) an antimony trioxide, (E) magnesium hydroxide, either one of (F) (F1) a zinc sulfide and (F2) a zinc oxide and (F3) mercaptobenzimidazole, and (G) a hindered phenolic antioxidant. The insulated wire includes a conductor and an insulation coat made from the composition, wherein the insulation coat has a thickness of 0.5 mm or less, and the insulated wire has an external diameter of 4 mm or less. The wiring harness includes the insulated wire.

Composition for wire coating member, insulated wire, and wiring harness

A composition for a wire protective member with heat resistance, flame retardancy, and resistance against both a calcium chloride and a braided wire; a wire protective member and a wire harness using the composition. The composition for a wire protective member is produced by including a polypropylene having a propylene monomer constituting 50 to 95 percent by mass of monomers forming a polymer, a melt flow rate of 0.5 to 5 g/10 min, and a melting point of 150 degrees C. or more; a bromine-based flame retardant and an antimony trioxide as a flame retarder; a phenol-based antioxidant as a heat resistance life improving agent; and a metal deactivator, wherein the propylene has a tensile strength of 20 to 35 MPa and a Charpy impact strength of 10 kJ/mor more at 23 degrees C.

Composition for wire protective member, wire protective member, and wiring harness

There are provided an automotive insulated wire, and automotive wiring harness that have an excellent resistance to a liquid, and an excellent resistance to an electrolyte, and that can be provided at low cost without causing an increase in cost. An automotive insulated wire () includes a metallic conductor () and an insulation covering layer () that covers the outer periphery of the metallic conductor, wherein the insulation covering layer is made from a mixed resin composition that contains resin ingredients that contain an ingredient A: a polysulfone resin, and an ingredient B: an aromatic polyester resin, and wherein a total of 100 parts by mass of the ingredients A and B contained in the mixed resin composition consists of 95 to 60 parts by mass of the ingredient A, and 5 to 40 parts by mass of the ingredient B.

Automotive insulated wire, and automotive wiring harness

A composition for a wire coating member having flame retardancy that is heat resistant and productive without using electron irradiation crosslinking, and an insulated wire and a wiring harness having the same. The insulated wire includes a wire coating member containing the composition for the wire coating member that contains water-crosslinkable polyolefin containing polyolefin that is modified by a silane coupling agent, unmodified polyolefin, modified polyolefin that is modified by a functional group, a bromine flame retardant, a cross-linking catalyst, a phenolic antioxidant, and either one of a zinc sulfide, and a zinc oxide and an imidazole compound. The insulated wire is prepared by extrusion-coating a conductor with the composition to form the wire coating member around the conductor, and the wire coating member is water-crosslinked.

A flame-retardant composition that is more excellent in heat resistance than a conventional flame-retardant composition. The flame-retardant composition contains silane-crosslinked polyolefin, polyolefin, a metallic hydrate, a phenolic antioxidant, a sulfurous antioxidant, a metallic oxide, and a copper inhibitor. The sulfurous antioxidant is preferably a benzimidazole compound, and the metallic oxide is preferably a zinc oxide. The silane-crosslinked polyolefin is preferably polyethylene having a density of 0.880 to 0.910 g/cmthat is silane-crosslinked. The polyolefin is preferably polyethylene having a density of 0.880 to 0.910 g/cm, or an olefin elastomer having a melting point of 140&#xb0; C. or more.

Flame-retardant composition and insulated wire, and method for producing flame-retardant composition

A polyvinyl chloride-type covering material for electric wire that has an excellent damage-resistance property, cold-resistance property and low-temperature property after aging. The covering material containing a polyvinyl chloride comprises, with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polyvinyl chloride, (A) 15 to 30 parts by mass of a plasticizer comprising 15 parts by mass or more of one or more plasticizers selected from trimellitate plasticizers and pyromellitate plasticizers, (B) 2 to 10 parts by mass of a chlorinated polyolefin, and (C) 1 to 6 parts by mass of a methyl methacrylate-butadiene-styrene copolymer.

Covering material for electric wire

An insulated electric wire having an external diameter of less than 1.1 mm includes a conductor and an insulator that covers the conductor, and the insulator has a thickness of 0.25 mm or less, and is made from a material that is free from a halogen element and has a breaking elongation of 10% or more and a flexural modulus of more than 2.0 GPa.

Insulated electric wire and wiring harness

An insulated wire including a conductor, an inside coat of one or more layers arranged to cover the conductor, and an outside coat arranged to cover the outermost layer of the inside coat, wherein at least the layer of the inside coat which is in contact with the conductor is made from an olefin resin including a functional group, and the outside coatis made from a non-halogenous flame-retardant resin composition. The functional group is preferably one or more groups selected from a carboxylic acid group, an acid anhydrous group, an epoxy group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an alkenyl cyclic imino ether group, and a silane group.

Insulated wire and a wiring harness

A wire covering material composition which is systematically different from a polyolefin resin composition and which possesses favorable flame retardancy, tensile elongation and wear resistance, having 100 parts by weight of a polymer blend containing 40-95 wt % of polybutylene terephthalate, and 1 to 30 parts by weight of a phosphoric ester compound with respect to 100 parts by weight of the polymer blend, wherein 5 to 100 wt % of the total content of the polybutylene terephthalate in the polymer blend is made up of polybutylene terephthalate, whose molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn (where Mw: weight-average molecular weight; Mn: number-average molecular weight) is greater than or equal to 2.5.

Wire covering material composition, an insulated wire and a wiring harness

An insulated wire possessing preferable flame retardancy, water resistance and wear resistance. The insulated wire including an insulator layer made from a composition including 96 to 44 parts by weight of (A) a polyester type resin, 4 to 56 parts by weight of (B) a polyphenylene ether type resin, 1 to 70 parts by weight of (C) one or more than one sort of polymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene type polymer, an olefin type polymer including a functional group, and a polymer including an ester group with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin, and 1 to 50 parts by weight of (D) a phosphoester compound with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin.

To provide a non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition delivering excellent heat resistance without deteriorating over a long period of time, as well as possessing sufficient flame retardancy, mechanical properties, flexibility and workability, and an insulated wire and a wiring harness using the same. The non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition includes (B) a metallic hydrate, (C) a hindered phenolic antioxidant, (D) a sulfurous antioxidant, and (E) a metallic oxide in (A) a non-crosslinked base resin which includes a propylene resin containing 50 wt % or more of propylene monomer. It is preferable to utilize an imdazole compound as the ingredient (D) and an oxide of zinc as the ingredient (E). In addition, the composition is used as an insulated covering material for a non-halogenous insulated wire, which is used in a wire bundle of the wiring harness.

Non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition, and an insulated wire and a wiring harness using the same

A non-halogenous insulated wire, which includes a conductor, an inside coat formed of one or more layers and an outermost coat, wherein the outermost coat is in the range of I0-I00 &#x3bc;m in thickness and made from a resin composition including one or more sorts of polyethylene such that an average density of the included polyethylene becomes 0.910 g/cmor more, and at least one of the layers is made from a resin composition including a resin ingredient which includes (A) polyethylene and (B) at least one sort of polymer, (C) a metallic hydrate, and (D) a zinc compound, in which at least one of (B) the polymer is modified by acid and/or (E) an organic functional coupling agent is further included.

Non-halogenous insulated wire and a wiring harness

A non-halogenous insulated wire [possessing sufficient flame retardancy and excellent heat resistance, wear resistance and flexibility, ]and a wiring harness including the wire. The wire includes a conductor, an inside coat of one or more layers and an outermost coat, wherein the outermost coat is in the range of 10 to 100 &#x3bc;m in thickness and is made from a resin composition including an olefin resin with a melting point of 180 &#xb0; C. or more and/or an olefin resin having a &#x2014;Si(XI) (X 2) (X 3) group, by 20 wt% or more, and at least one of the layers of the inside coat is made from a resin composition including (A) an olefin resin with a melting point of 180 &#xb0; C. or more by 50-5 to part weight, (B) an olefin resin by 50 to 95 part weight, and (C) a metallic hydrate by 30 to 250 part weight.

An olefin-based resin composition contains (a) 39-94 parts by weight of a propylene homopolymer or propylene-ethylene copolymer of at least 50 wt. % propylene content, having a melt-flow rate of 0.1-5 g/10 min, (b) 1-20 parts by weight of a polypropylene modified with 0.1-10% by weight of an acid anhydride, (c) 5-60 parts by weight of a styrene-based polymeric elastomer modified with 0.1-10% by weight of an acid anhydride, the total of components (a), (b) and (c) being 100 parts by weight, and (d) 30-200 parts by weight of a metal hydroxide. This halogen-free resin composition has a good balance of properties such as wear resistance, flame resistance, tensile properties and flexibility, which are required for the covering material of an electrical wire for an automobile.
