The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an MEA with high production efficiency. It is a feature of the present invention that the method for manufacturing an MEA includes coating a first catalyst ink on a substrate to form a coated layer of the first catalyst ink, removing the solvent in the coated layer of the first catalyst ink to form a first electrode catalyst layer, coating an electrolyte ink on the first electrode catalyst layer to form a coated layer of the electrolyte ink, removing the solvent in the coated layer of the electrolyte ink to form a polymer electrolyte membrane, coating a second catalyst ink on the polymer electrolyte membrane to form a coated layer of the second catalyst ink, and removing the solvent in the coated layer of the second catalyst ink to form a second electrode catalyst layer.

Polymer electrolyte fuel cell, membrane electrode assembly and manufacturing method thereof

A manufacturing method of MEA of the present invention includes coating a catalyst ink for first electrode catalyst layer containing an electron conducting material loading a catalyst, a polymer electrolyte, and a solvent on a substrate to form a coated layer; removing the solvent in the coated layer to form at least two types of first electrode catalyst layers having different polymer electrolyte content ratios; coating an electrolyte ink containing the polymer electrolyte and the solvent on the first electrode catalyst layer to form a coated layer; removing the solvent in the coated layer to form a polymer electrolyte layer; coating a catalyst ink for second electrode catalyst layer containing the electron conducting material loading the catalyst, the polymer electrolyte, and the solvent on the polymer electrolyte layer to form a coated layer; and removing the solvent in the coated layer to form a second electrode catalyst layer.

Membrane electrode assembly, manufacturing method thereof and fuel cell

The present invention provides a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) which has a high level of power generation performance under a low humidified condition and a high level of production efficiency, and further, a manufacturing method of such an MEA and a fuel cell having such an MEA. The present invention includes forming first electrode catalyst layer, forming polymer electrolyte layeron the first electrode catalyst layerin such a way that a cross sectional surface of the first electrode catalyst layeris also covered with the polymer electrolyte layer, and forming second electrode catalyst layeron the polymer electrolyte layerin such a way that a cross sectional surface of the second electrode catalyst layeris covered with the polymer electrolyte layer

There are provided: a proton transporting material that improves mechanical characteristics of a sulfonated liquid crystalline polymer material, can be kept as a membrane even though it is made a solid state while maintaining a molecular arrangement of a liquid crystalline state, and is suitable for electrolyte membranes of fuel cells etc.; an ion exchange membrane, a membrane electrolyte assembly (MEA), and a fuel cell that use the proton transporting material; a starting material for the proton transporting material. The proton transporting material has a molecular structure produced by crosslinking the sulfonated liquid crystalline polymer material with a crosslinking agent having two or more functional groups in sites except that of the sulfonic acid group.
