A threading device of a sewing machine includes: a needle bar which is supported on a sewing machine body so as to be slidable in an up-down direction and to a distal end of which a needle having a needle hole is attached; a threading shaft member which is movably supported on the sewing machine body in parallel to the needle bar; a guiding member provided at a lower end of the threading shaft member so as to guide a thread to the needle hole; and an air supplying member that supplies air to the guiding member. The guiding member includes: a guiding path portion of which the path width gradually narrows toward the needle hole such that the air supplied from the air supplying member is guided toward the needle hole.

A sewing machine includes a horizontal hook that is held within an outer hook and an accommodating portion of the outer hook that includes a spiral-shaped columnar portion to which the thread loop captured by the hook point is wound. A work positioning device for a computer sewing machine includes an auxiliary table and a positioning arm having one end removably and turnably connected to the auxiliary table. The positioning arm has the opposite end provided with a positioning part and may be turned between an upper position where the positioning part is spaced from the upper surface of the auxiliary table and a lower position where the positioning part is in contact with the upper surface of the table, the positioning part having a reference mark provided for showing an initialized position for starting the pattern stitching operation when the embroidery frame is connected to the carriage.

The display may be moved up and down by of a switch and may be moved up until the lower end side of the display aligns with the lower end side of the machine arm and may be stopped at an upper optional position. Embroidery sewing machine having a Y-direction drive mechanism including an elongated arm which is normally accommodated in a cutout portion formed at a bed of the machine body and forms a part of that body. The invention has been made to provide an embroidery sewing machine which may be automatically operated to withdraw the embroidering frame to a predetermined inoperative position. More particularly, in case the power source switch is turned off, the power happens to be in failure, the power cord happens to be disconnected, the sewing operation is interrupted for a predetermined period of time, or the instruction is given to withdraw the embroidering frame to a predetermined inoperative position, the CPU is responsive to these situations to control the X-Y moving mechanism to withdraw the embroidering frame to the predetermined inoperative position.
