An aluminum electrode in which a porous layer made of a sintered layer of aluminum powder having an average particle diameter of 1 &#x3bc;m to 10 &#x3bc;m is laminated in a thickness of 150 &#x3bc;m to 3000 &#x3bc;m on a surface of an aluminum core material is produced by chemical formation to produce an anode for an electrolytic capacitor. In this process, an organic acid immersion step of immersing the aluminum electrode in an organic acid aqueous solution containing dodecanoic acid, benzoic acid, propanedioic acid, butanedioic acid, (E)-2-butenedioic acid, 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid, (E)-1-propene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid, or the like is carried out after a pure water boiling step and before a chemical formation step. In the chemical formation step, a phosphoric acid immersion step of immersing the aluminum electrode in an aqueous solution containing phosphate ions is carried out one or more times in the course of raising a film withstand voltage to a chemical formation voltage.

Method for producing electrode for aluminum electrolytic capacitor

A porous aluminum electrode has a porous layer formed by sintering aluminum powder on the surface of an aluminum core. The porous aluminum electrode, when subjected to a formation to a voltage of 200V or more, is boiled and then subjected to a first forming process in which formation is performed in an aqueous solution of ammonium adipate at a temperature of 80&#xb0; C. or below and a second forming process in which formation is performed in a boric acid aqueous solution. When heat depolarization is first carried out, washing with water is performed for five minutes or more before heat depolarization; therefore, the porous layer is not destroyed.

Method for manufacturing electrode for aluminum electrolytic capacitor

The present invention provides an electrode material for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, which does not require any etching treatment and which has improved bending strength. Specifically, the present invention provides an electrode material for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, which comprises, as constituent elements, a sintered body of a powder of at least one member selected from the group consisting of aluminum and aluminum alloys and an aluminum foil substrate that supports the sintered body thereon, which is characterized in that (1) the powder has an average particle size Dof 0.5 to 100 &#x3bc;m, (2) the sintered body is formed on one surface or both surfaces of the aluminum foil substrate and has a total thickness of 20 to 1,000 &#x3bc;m, and (3) the aluminum foil substrate has a thickness of 10 to 200 &#x3bc;m and an Si content of 10 to 3,000 ppm.

An electrode material for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, comprising, as constituent elements, sintered body of a powder of at least one member selected from the group consisting of aluminum and aluminum alloys, and an aluminum foil substrate supporting the sintered body thereon, wherein (1) the powder has an average particle size Dof 0.5 to 100 &#x3bc;m, (2) the sintered body is formed on one surface or both surfaces of the aluminum foil substrate and has a total thickness of 10 to 1,000 &#x3bc;m, (3) the porosity of the sintered body is 35 to 49% by volume, and (4) the sintered body is obtained by applying a rolling process to a film made from a composition comprising a powder of at least one member selected from the group consisting of aluminum and aluminum alloys, and subsequently sintering the film.

An object of the present invention is to provide an aluminum foil having a plurality of through holes and a desired foil strength, and a manufacturing method thereof. The high-strength perforated aluminum foil of the present invention includes a plurality of through holes extending from a front surface to a back surface of the foil, and has: (1) a foil thickness of 50 &#x3bc;m or less; and (2) a tensile strength of [0.2&#xd7;foil thickness (&#x3bc;m)] N/10 mm or more.
