The present invention relates to: an antibody, particularly a monoclonal antibody, a chimeric antibody, a humanized antibody and a human antibody, which specifically recognize human &#x3b1;9 integrin; a hybridoma cell which produces the monoclonal antibody; a method for producing the monoclonal antibody; a method for producing the hybridoma cell; a therapeutic agent comprising the anti-human &#x3b1;9 integrin antibody; a diagnostic agent comprising the human &#x3b1;9 integrin antibody; and a method for screening a compound which inhibits the activity of human &#x3b1;9 integrin.

Antihuman &#x3b1;9 integrin antibody and use of the same

The present invention provides an anti-mouse &#x3b1;9 integrin antibody, an anti-human &#x3b1;9 integrin antibody, a hybridoma producing any of the antibodies, a method of producing any of the antibodies and the hybridoma, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising any of the antibodies. The anti-&#x3b1;9 integrin antibody of the present invention inhibits the &#x3b1;9 integrin function thereby to exhibit therapeutic effects on cancer, e.g., the growth and metastasis of a cancer cell, and an inflammatory disease, e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, hepatitis, bronchial asthma, fibrosis, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, multiple sclerosis, granuloma, an inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), an autoimmune disease and the like.
