The vacuum seal unit of a workpiece transfer apparatus includes a plurality of seal rings and a cooling flow passage formed so as to circulate through inside a rotating shaft and a workpiece transfer mechanism. The seal rings adjacent to each other with a spacing therebetween, out of the plurality of seal rings, and the rotating shaft define a first space and a second space independent from each other and respectively surrounding the periphery of the rotating shaft. An end portion of the cooling flow passage communicates with the first space, and the other end of the cooling flow passage communicates with the second space. Even when the rotating shaft is rotating about the axial center, a coolant supplied to the second space can flow through the cooling flow passage and be supplied to the first space, thereby enabling cooling with high efficiency without restriction on the angle of rotation.

Workpiece transfer apparatus

A conveying device in which a conveying arm assembly can be quickly set in a conveying position and can be rapidly stabilized in the conveying position includes a conveying arm assembly, a fixed shaft, at least one set of hollow operating shafts which are necessary for controlling an operation of the conveying arm assembly, and a motor provided between the fixed shaft and each of the operating shafts. The one set of operating shafts are attached to the fixed shaft such that they can be rotated coaxially with respect to the fixed shaft outside fixed shaft and are arranged in an axial direction of the fixed shaft. The conveying arm assembly is attached to an end portion of the operating shaft close to the ended of the fixed shaft. The motor comprises a stator provided on the fixed shaft and a rotor provided on each of the operating shafts such that it is opposed to the stator on an outer peripheral side of the stator. The stator is accommodated in a concave portion formed on an outer peripheral face of the fixed shaft.

Conveying device

A conveying device in which a conveying arm assembly can be quickly set in a conveying position and can be rapidly stabilized in the conveying position is disclosed. The conveying device comprises a conveying arm assembly, a fixed shaft, at least one set of hollow operating shafts which are necessary for controlling an operation of the conveying arm assembly, and a motor provided between the fixed shaft and each of the operating shafts. The one set of operating shafts are attached to the fixed shaft such that they can be rotated coaxially with respect to the fixed shaft outside fixed shaft and are arranged in an axial direction of the fixed shaft. The motor comprises a stator provided on the fixed shaft and a rotor provided on each of the operating shafts such that it is opposed to the stator on an outer peripheral side of the stator.

A transfer robot is provided which includes a stationary base, two coaxially rotatable shafts, two motors for driving these shafts, and an arm mechanism provided with at least one handling member for holding a workpiece. The arm mechanism includes a base link rotatable about a first axis, and a pantograph assembly carried by the base link. The pantograph assembly is made up of an outer link supported by the base link for rotation about a second axis, intermediate links supported by the outer link for rotation about third axes, an inner link supported by the intermediate links for rotation about fourth axes. The third axes are offset from the second axis toward the first axis. The distance between the first and the second axes is equal to the distance between the third and the fourth axes.

Transfer robot

A transfer robot includes a first pantograph assembly, a second pantograph assembly, a handling member carried by the second pantograph assembly, a rotation-transmitting mechanism for associating the first pantograph assembly with the second pantograph assembly, a stationary base member, a first shaft and a second shaft which are rotatable about a vertical axis. The transfer robot also includes first and second driving devices associated with the first shaft and the second shaft, respectively. The second pantograph assembly is offset toward the vertical axis relative to the first pantograph assembly.
