The present invention is a bodyshell structure of a railcar, the bodyshell structure including: a side bodyshell including an outside plate portion, an inside plate portion, and a joint portion configured to join the outside plate portion and the inside plate portion; an inside window opening formed on the inside plate portion and provided inside the railcar; and an outside window opening formed on the outside plate portion and having a smaller opening area than the inside window opening, and at least one of the inside window opening and the outside window opening has an oval shape extending in the railcar longitudinal direction or a circular shape.

A gangway construction for vehicles comprises divided hood structures each of which has a first end and second end, the first ends of the respective hood structures being fixed to the vehicles, and the second ends thereof being made free and to face each other, a plurality of hood pressers provided between upper sides of metal frames on a free side of the hood structure and the vehicles and between lower sides thereof and the vehicles for urging the hood structures in their extension direction upon coupling operation, the plurality of hood pressers being arranged in a horizontal plane in convergent relation, and positioning members for guiding and engaging each other upon mutual approach of the members to effect a centering action, the positioning members being provided in the release side metal frames.

Gangway construction for vehicles

A vehicle body able to withstand fluctuating external pressure while providing ample space for the passengers, by having a multiplicity of substantially square, first frames each having reinforced portions on two upper corners thereof, provided by rounding inner surfaces of the two upper corners, and a multiplicity of substantially square, second frames having reinforced portions on two lower corners thereof provided by rounding inner surfaces of the two lower corners. They are arranged alternately over the length of the vehicle body, and are connected together by longitudinal structural members. A shell plate is attached to the substantially square frames at their outer surfaces, to provide a substantially square vehicle body.

Construction of vehicle body

There is provided an emergency exit apparatus disposed on a wall surface of a train car. A hinged door assembly comprises a hinged door portal frame and a hinged door carrying a stair on its inner surface. In one embodiment, the lower edge of the hinged door portal frame is coupled to a wall surface by a horizontal hinge, while the hinged door is coupled to the hinged door portal frame by a vertical hinge. In a second embodiment, the side edge of the portal frame is coupled to a wall surface by a vertical hinge, while the hinged door is coupled to the portal frame by a horizontal hinge. When swung open on the horizontal hinge, the inner surface of the door provides a ramp for emergency exit; when swung open on the vertical hinge, the portal frame including the door provides an opening for normal entrance and exit.
