An optical writing head which is simplified in construction and reduced in production cost. The optical writing head comprises a light emitting means, and a substrate on which the light emission means is mounted. The substrate has a light transmitting property at a portion thereof which opposes to the light emitting means. Light emitted from the light emitting means is taken out through the substrate so that it may be irradiated upon a light receiving body. A fiber bundle may be provided with one end opposed to the light emitting means and with the other end opposed to an object for exposure. Where the head is of a type wherein it contacts with an object when it optically writes, the other end of the fiber bundle is formed into a curved face, but where the head is of another type wherein it does not contact with an object when writing, a gas blowing out means is provided to assure a gap between the other end of the fiber bundle and an object. A plurality of flexible printed circuits may be connected to the light emitting means in an opposing relationship to a light emitting portion of the light emitting means.

Optical writing head

A printer which includes a latent image carrier in the form of an endless belt, a carriage moveable parallel to a lengthwise dimension of the endless belt, and a paper transport device for moving a sheet of paper perpendicular to the direction of movement of the belt. Mounted on the carriage is a condition control mechanism for putting the latent image carrier in a condition ready for writing a latent image on it, a writing mechanism for forming a latent image on the latent image carriage, a transfer unit for transferring a toner image from the latent image carrier to a recording medium, and a fixing unit for fixing the toner image on the recording medium. After a write operation, the belt is rotated on-half its length and held immoveable. The carriage, having mounted on it the condition control mechanism, writing mechanism, transfer unit and fixing unit, is then moved in the length direction of the latent image carrier and a concurrent write operation, transferring operation, and fixing operation is conducted on three separate lines of images.

An LED array head has an LED array which selectively emits light. The LED array is mounted on a substrate in a flip chip form with a light emitting section located opposed to a surface of the substrate. A fiber bundle including a plurality of optical fibers is buried in the substrate with an end portion of the fiber bundle located at a position in the vicinity of the light emitting section of the LED array.

An LED array head which has a simplified structure and can be produced at a reduced cost. The LED array head comprises an LED array, a plurality of flexible printed circuits connected at faces thereof opposing to light emitting portions of the LED array to the LED array, an optical fiber bundle having an end face located in an opposing relationship to each of the light emitting portions of the LED array, and a common fiber plate in which the fiber bundles are mounted and on which the flexible printed circuits are supported. In producing the LED array head, the LED array is mounted on the opposing faces of the flexible printed circuits by a tape automated bonding system, and the fiber plate is located such that the end faces of the fiber bundles may oppose the light emitting portions of the LED array so as to support the flexible printed circuits on the fiber plate. A modified LED array is also disclosed.

LED array head

A current location updating display for indicating the current location of moving members such as an automobile while updating from time to time based on output from a magnetic azimuth sensor adapted to detect the azimuth of terrestrial magnetism. Output signals from the magnetic azimuth sensor are stored in a data memory after A/D conversion and correction, and a predetermined amount of data read out from the data memory is subject to the averaging processing. With this, plural angle information (sin .theta. and cos .theta.) signals or plural angle (.theta.) signals are averaged out including a signal corresponding to disturbance magnetism. Thus average data signals are integrated by an integrator and then sent to a display portion. Through the averaging processing an azimuthal error is restrained as small as possible, so that the current location or running path of the moving member may be indicated correctly.

In a moving object, such as automobile, having a steering gear which determines a traveling course, and a traveling distance detector which detects a traveling distance; a direction detection apparatus comprising a steering position detector detecting an amount of displacement of the steering gear, and an arithmetic unit which calculates a traveling direction of the moving object from a steering position signal proportional to the amount of displacement and a traveling distance signal proportional to the traveling distance, thereby to detect the traveling direction of the moving object. The apparatus can detect the traveling direction without being affected by a magnetic deviation, an abnormal magnetic field, etc.

Direction detection apparatus

A course guidance apparatus for vehicles has a direction sensor and a speed sensor carried on the vehicle and a traveling locus corresponding to detection signals from the direction sensor and the speed sensor is plotted in a manner to be superposed on a map film and displayed on a projection screen. The traveling locus is traced by a laser beam on a trace plate having electrooptic, optomagnetic, or incoherent-to-coherent light conversion properties. The superposed picture is clearly viewed, and the misregistration between the map and the traveling locus is avoided.

Course guidance and display apparatus for vehicles

Disclosed is a magnetic course detector capable of accurately detecting the bearing of the course of a traveling body independently of the position a magnetic bearing sensor is installed in the traveling body through rotatably mounting the magnetic bearing sensor and making corrections for the offset and sensitivity of its output.
