A turn lamp includes a base housing; a light source unit incorporated with a light source and housed in the base housing; an inner housing provided with a long and solid light guide; a lens cover that covers the base housing; and a diffused reflection generator that is structured such that light from the light source leaks out long from the light guide.

A fan motor has an end case having an annular recess. An air passage hole is formed in the annular recess defined by axially outer and inner tubular guide walls formed on the end case. A cover member covering the air passage hole is provided on a fan shroud. First and second ring-shaped ribs are integrally formed on the side of the cover member facing the end case, so as to form a labyrinth structure in cooperation with an open end of a motor yoke and with the radially outer peripheral surface of the annular recess.

In a multi-pole electric motor, the terminal pieces of same polarities are placed adjacent to each other while the terminal pieces of different polarities are placed remote from each other, and the terminal pieces of common polarities are connected by shunt tabs which can be selectively cut apart. For instance, when a four-pole electric motor is to be used as a one-speed motor, the shunt tabs connected across associated terminal pieces are not cut apart, and the terminal pieces are appropriately connected to external power lines. When the motor is to be used as a two-speed motor, the shunt tabs connected across associated terminal pieces are cut apart, and the terminal pieces are appropriately connected to external power lines. Thus, the electric motor can be readily adapted either as a one-speed motor or a two-speed motor by using standardized component parts. Furthermore, even when the motor should overheat, there would be no short-circuiting, and the reliability of the motor can be improved.

A fixing structure of the present invention is capable of fixing permanent magnets to an internal peripheral surface of a cylindrical yoke in a short time without producing a positional deviation. The fixing structure has magnet receiving pieces which are projected on the internal peripheral surface of an internal cylinder, and magnet holders each having elastically deformable magnet pressure pieces formed therein, so that permanent magnets are respectively held between the elastically deformed magnet pressure pieces and the magnet receiving pieces and pressed against the side of the magnet receiving pieces in a normal direction due to the elastic restoring force on the magnet pressure pieces. The permanent magnets can thus be integrally fixed to the internal peripheral surface of the internal cylinder.

A casing of a motor is rendered light and also capable of forming a magnetic circuit in cooperation with a permanent magnet. The casing consists of an outer cylinder and an end bracket each being made of aluminum. An inner cylinder, made of iron and carrying a permanent magnet fixed to the inner peripheral surface thereof, is integrally fitted on the inner peripheral surface of a cylindrical portion of the outer cylinder which is sealed by the end bracket.

A brush holder device for an electric motor has a brush holder, a brush movably received in the brush holder, and a spring which acts between the bottom of the brush holder and the outer end of the brush so as to resiliently press the brush into contact with a commutator. The surface of the bottom of the brush holder on which one end of the spring acts and the outer end surface of the brush on which the other end of the spring acts are inclined in opposite directions along the axis of the motor such that the distance between the surfaces is greater at one axial end than at the other axial end of the brush holder. As a result, the spring is naturally urged to and stably held in the axial end where the distance between these two surfaces is greater. In addition, or alternatively, the bottom surface of the brush holder includes a recessed portion for containing the spring at one axial end of the brush holder.
