A clip is provided with a pin and a main body having an opening for inserting the pin. The pin has a flange and a shaft extending down from the flange. The outer circumference of the flange curves downward. The main body has a bottom, a pair of latching claws downward from the bottom through the opening, support legs extending downward from the bottom between the latching claws, an annular loop element on the top side of the bottom, a sloping element of gradually lowering height from the outside annular element and annular thin-walled flange from the underside of the bottom. In the primary joined state, the latching claws pushing on the pin shaft spread apart, and the claw tips engage the pin latching convex element of the pin shaft. The attached member is held between the base elements of the latching claws and contact element on the under side of the bottom of the main body. The edge of the outer circumference of the pin flange is in contact with the inclined element of the main body, improving watertightness.

Clip and fastening structure

A fastening assembly for securing a floor mat to a carpet in a vehicle includes a first fastener that is attached to the carpet, a knob that is attached to the first fastener, and a second fastener that is attached to a floor mat. A knob base is integrally provided in a first carpet grommet of the first fastener. The knob comprises a knob shank that is coupled to be able to turn about its axis inside the knob base between an unlocked position and a locked position. The knob base includes projections which fit into and mate with channels in knob coupling latching pawls of the knob base; thus, the knob holding force is enhanced, and a clicking sensation confirms completion of the attachment operation.

An apparatus for attaching a sheet-form member for protecting vehicle occupants comprises a clip that is secured in an attachment hole in a body panel. The clip has a flange that covers edge portions of the attachment hole and has a protection member attaching part that receives and retains an engagement part of the protection member, which may be a soft elastic sheet.

A fastener attaches a wire harness and an end of a floor carpet to a rocker panel of a vehicle and provides support for a rocker molding independently of the rocker panel. The wire harness includes a pair of arcuate arms pivotally mounted on a base of the fastener and having free ends that connect to one another to form a cylindrical wire harness holder that surrounds a wire harness. One of the arcuate arms is latched to the base and assists in retaining an end of the carpet on the base. Spaced rocker molding engagement portions on the base and on the one arcuate arm receive and retain respective legs of the rocker molding.

Fastener for attaching floor carpet and wire harness to a rocker panel

A screw grommet comprises a shank inserted into a mounting hole in a workpiece and a flange formed at one end of the shank that is larger than the mounting hole in the workpiece. A cavity is formed in the flange and the shank into which a tapping screw can be screwed after insertion through a hole in a member to be mounted on the workpiece. The shank has a rectangular cross-section appropriate for a rectangular cross-section mounting hole in the workpiece. Both the flange and a portion of the shank are divided by a plurality of axial slits. Protrusions are formed diagonally on the outer periphery of the shank separated axially from the flange by about the thickness of the workpiece. The screw grommet is able to obtain high retention force with respect to a workpiece without rotating together with a turned screw.

Screw grommet

The screw grommet comprises a flange and a shank extending from the flange. The shank is provided with flexible legs extending from the end of the shank towards the flange and outwardly from the shank. The shank has a screw insertion hole into which a tapping screw is screwed to prevent the legs from being bent radially inward towards the shank so that the screw grommet is fixed to the workpiece by means of the legs and the flange. The inner portion of the legs is provided with a threaded section turned by screwing in the tapping screw. The flange is integrated with a tubular fastening torque bearing section extending in the direction opposite the shank . The fastening torque bearing section is formed with a screw insertion hole having a diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the tapping screw so as to receive the tapping screw.
