A video printing apparatus of the present invention includes a unit for converting an input image signal to a digital signal through an A/D conversion, memory units for storing the digital signal, memory unit for storing a printing image area in an edited format, operation section for generating an address signal corresponding to a given formed dither image area and control circuit. When printing of an image is designated for one image area, a corresponding input image signal is taken out and printed on a printing sheet by a recording head. When, on the other hand, printing of an image is designated for a plurality of image areas, designated dither image areas are trimmed and edited by the memory unit into one image. The resultant image is printed, by the recording head, on the printing sheet.

An image-forming/processing station forms images in a plurality of colors in a superposed manner, in units of individual colors, on an identical unrolled portion of a recording roll medium, in accordance with color image formation data. When the images in the plurality of colors are to be formed, a recording medium conveying unit reciproctes, a plurality of times, the identical unrolled portion of the recording roll medium to the image-forming/processing station, in accordance with formation of the image in the plurality colors, and conveys a recorded-on unrolled portion of the recording roll medium to a downstream side of the station when formation of the images in the plurality of colors is completed. A recording medium storing unit is provided on the downstream side of the station and temporarily stores the unrolled portion of the recording roll medium on which image formation in each color is to be performed. A process of correcting for a color misregistering is disclosed. Markers which enable a synchronization of a record position are formed along the lateral edges of a record paper, and are read by linear sensors. The outputs from the sensors can be utilized to determine any offset of the record paper or the magnitude of any shrinkage or elongation. A processing operation is applied to a dot signal which is used in the electrostatic recording so as to remove part of the dot signal or insert a dummy dot in accordance with the result of determination. In this manner, the position where a monochromatic color signal is recorded is electrically controlled to provide a correction for a color misregistering.
