The present invention provides a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polymer component consisting of 30 to 80 wt. % of an ethylene.cndot..alpha.-olefin.cndot.non-conjugated diene copolymer having a Mooney viscosity of 10 to 100 (ML.sub.1+4 100.degree. C.) and an iodine value of 20 to 45 and containing ethylene and .alpha.-olefin in a weight ratio of 50:50 to 90:10, and 20 to 70 wt. % of a styrene-conjugated diolefin block copolymer, 20 to 150 parts by weight of a reinforcing filler, 3 to 30 parts by weight of sulfur, 0 to 50 parts by weight of a styrene resin and 0 to 100 parts by weight of an extending oil.

A process for producing a rubber product by vulcanizing a molded article composed of a rubber composition containing a peroxide as a crosslinking agent in the presence of oxygen, wherein said molded article is irradiated with electron beams, is disclosed. A heat-shrinkable, tubular foam can be produced from a composition which comprises 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-nonconjugated diene copolymer, 1 to 20 parts by weight of a foaming agent, 5 to 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin having a vicat softening point of 50.degree. to 200.degree. C., and up to 10 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent, by shaping the composition into a tube, crosslinking and foaming the tube and pressurizing the tube in the interior to inflate it. This heat-shrinkable, tubular foam is best suited for jacketing pipes, hoses, and the like.

In a process of crosslinking a rubber compound with the usage of an organic peroxide as the crosslinking agent, is incorporated to the rubber compound in an amount of 0.5-20 parts by weight per 100 parts of a rubber substrate a compound selected from imidazole type compounds, thiourea type compounds, thiazole type compounds, thiuram type compounds, dithiocarbamate type compounds, phenol type compounds, triazole type compounds and amine type compounds. The process results no surface tackiness of the rubber product crosslinked in the presence of oxygen.

Methods for production of crosslinked rubber products

A vulcanized, ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber composition obtained by vulcanizing an unvulcanized rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a rubber composition consisting of 0-99% by weight of an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber and 100-1% by weight of an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber containing an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or a derivative thereof; and 5-100 parts by weight of a polyamide resin, wherein an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber is at least one selected from ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymers and ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/non-conjugated diene copolymers. The vulcanized, ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber composition of the present invention has a high hardness and is excellent in weather resistance and thermal resistance as compared with natural rubbers and general-purpose rubbers.

Vulcanized, ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer rubber composition

A process for vulcanizing a rubber base comprising at least one halogen-containing amorphous polymer at a low temperature ranging from 5.degree. to 85.degree. C., which comprises carrying out the vulcanization in the presence of 0.01 to 20 parts by weight of an organic hydroperoxide and/or ketone peroxide per 100 parts by weight of the rubber base. In the above process, at least one member selected from the group consisting of (I) the oxides of metals, such as zinc, lead, chromium, cobalt, nickel, magnesium, manganese, copper and iron, or the metallic salts of said metals with aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid having 8 to 24 carbon atoms; (II) methacrylic esters; (III) maleimides; and (IV) oximes, may be used as a vulcanization activator or a vulcanization accelerator in an amount of 0.01 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the rubber base.
