The present invention relates to a superconducting material that is, substances having compositions expressed by empirical formulae Y.sub.1-x Ba.sub.x CuO.sub.3, YBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7 and LnBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7 and critical temperatures of 90 K. or more, and to a method of producing the same in which for example Y.sub.2 O.sub.3, BaCO.sub.3 and CuO are blended at a mixture molar ratio of 1:2:6 and the resulting mixture is molded under pressure followed by slowly cooling in an oxidizing atmosphere.

Method of making semiconductor film

The present invention is directed to a metal/hydrogen alkaline storage battery, which comprises a positive electrode of a metal oxide, a negative electrode of a hydrogen-storage alloy, and a separator impregnated with an alkaline electrolyte and placed between the positive and negative electrodes. The electrodes and separator are housed within a sealed type battery casing. The casing has a device for maintaining the pressure in the battery in a selected range of from an equilibrium pressure required for absorbing hydrogen by the negative electrode to about 20 kg/cm.sup.2.

Metal/hydrogen alkaline storage battery

Mutually spaced apart TCO film portions are formed on a glass substrate. An amorphous silicon film of PIN junction type is formed to cover these TCO film portions, and an aluminum film is formed thereon. The aluminum film in the vicinity of the gap between adjacent TCO film portions is removed by means of a laser beam, and the amorphous silicon film is removed by reactive plasma etching using the aluminum film as a mask to thereby expose portions of the TCO film. An aluminum-titanium film is formed over the aluminum film and the exposed portions of the TCO film. The aluminum-titanium film is separated by means of a laser beam to form a plurality of photoelectric converting regions. The photoelectric converting regions thus formed on the glass substrate are connected in series.

Method of manufacturing photovoltaic device

The present application discloses a sunlight-into-energy conversion apparatus in which at least one amorphous silicon solar cell having a thickness thin enough to permit the sunlight to pass therethrough is formed on the surface of a heat collecting plate attached to a heating medium tube in a thermal conductive manner, thereby permitting the sunlight to be effectively converted into thermal energy and electrical energy. When a plurality of such amorphous silicon solar cells are formed on the surface of the heat collecting plate through insulating films, respectively and connected in series to each other, high electromotive force may be obtained.

Sunlight-into-energy conversion apparatus

A core type magnetron comprising a vacuum envelope which includes an open ended magnetic anode cylindrical member and magnetic upper and lower end plates for closing the opposite end openings of the cylindrical member. Internal to the vacuum envelope, a plurality of anode vanes are provided which extend in a radial direction from the approximate middle of the inner wall of the cylindrical member toward the center of the envelope. A pair of permanent magnets provided internal to the envelope, each extending from opposite end plates toward the anode vanes. By this arrangement, an operating space is defined by the opposing surfaces of the pair of the magnets and the anode vanes, such that a magnetic flux is applied to said operating space. A cathode is provided within the operating space. The magnets employed are characterized as being low in the emission of gases during operation of the magnetron, since they are manufactured by a process which includes melting designated source materials mixed with a small amount of silicon in a vacuum, casting the melt in a vacuum, followed by forging.

Core magnetron and method of manufacturing permanent magnets therefor

A magnetron constructed by locating a pair of permanent magnets in a vacuum container which is an anode cylinder (i.e. shell) of magnetic material and has upper and lower covers of magnetic material to form a magnetic circuit. A high frequency resonator is formed by attaching anode vanes directly to the internal wall of the anode cylinder and providing a film of highly conductive material on the internal wall of the anode cylinder between the anode vanes. Terminals for the supply of power to a cathode disposed between the permanent magnets pass through a hole in at least one of the permanent magnets and one of the covers of the magnetic material. An antenna, or probe, extends out of a hole in the side wall of the anode cylinder, and heat radiative fins are attached directly to the external wall of the anode cylinder.

A core type magnetron is disclosed wherein a permanent magnet is provided in an anode resonator surrounding a cathode, characterized in that said permanent magnet has a reversible temperature coefficient of which is variable depending on the operating point and which is adapted such that it is utilized at the operating point where said reversible temperature coefficient has the value of zero or close thereto.
