A system construction assistance apparatus includes a first display screen, a second display screen, and a processing section displaying units each belonging to one of categories on the first display screen such that the units are sorted by category, receiving a first input to select one unit from the units displayed on the first display screen, generating a system configuration diagram on the basis of the received first input, and displaying the generated system configuration diagram on the second display screen. After a first input is newly received and before a next first input is received, the processing section predicts a category to which a unit to be selected by the next first input belongs on the basis of first inputs received in a past and presents the predicted category as a candidate category to a user.

A delay time period, such as the H/W process time period, and the S/W process time period needed for starting up a timer, and a time period from the task starting to the packet transmission beginning are predicted and stored in the control information in advance. A set value calculating part calculates a timer set value at the system initialization. In a packet forming part, the timer set value is set in a relative time timer for starting the timer. The relative time timer generates an interrupt after a specific elapse time has passed for starting a transmission requesting part. By dint of this, the time lag of the time period from the period interrupt to the packet transmission beginning can be reduced, and each of the formed packets is certainly requested to be transmitted within each requested time period for processing.

A cordless telephone system includes a subscriber line interface wired to a subscriber line, and cordless terminal connected to the subscriber line interface via a radio communication. The subscriber interface includes only interface conversion means for performing conversion between a wired signal of the subscriber line and a radio signal of the cordless terminal and means for call connection. In the cordless terminal, it is only required to provide the radio interface circuit which can communicate with the radio interface portion of the subscriber line interface, and a telephone function circuit for enabling connection with the subscriber network. Therefore, the telephone system can be established with employing an arbitrary terminal.
