A starting clutch includes a planetary mechanism; a first clutch for outputting a torque to an outer diameter portion of the planetary mechanism; a second clutch for outputting the torque to an intermediate portion of the planetary mechanism; and a lock mechanism for locking a reactive force from an inner diameter portion of the planetary mechanism.

Starting clutch and method of controlling the same

The present invention provides a wet multi-plate clutch comprising a clutch case and hub disposed on a same axis, a first friction engagement element disposed in the clutch case, a second friction engagement element disposed on the hub, and a piston for applying an axial load to the first and second friction engagement elements, and wherein a recessed groove is formed in a surface of the piston opposing to the first and second friction engagement elements, and a wave spring is disposed within the recessed groove, and only a portion of the opposed surface at an outer diameter side or an inner diameter side of the recessed groove urges the respective friction engagement elements.

Wet multi-plate clutch

The present invention provides a starting clutch in which an input side element and an output side element are joined together by applying an axial load thereby to transmit a power, which clutch comprises an urging device for always providing the axial load, and a releasing device for releasing the input side element and the output side element from the axial load.

Starting clutch and method for controlling same

In a starting clutch having input side elements and output side elements that are frictionally engaged with each other by receiving an axial load, urging means for permanently urging such elements is provided. Further, in a starting clutch comprising a multi-plate clutch having a hub, a damper device and a housing for covering the multi-plate clutch and the damper device, an outer peripheral side of the hub of the multi-plate clutch is connected to drive side elements.

Starting clutch

In a starting clutch, an oil path for operating the clutch is provided independently of an oil path for cooling a frictional surface. That is, there is provided an oil path exclusively for cooling the frictional surface. Accordingly, a necessary amount of oil can be supplied to the frictional surface, which can thus be cooled efficiently.

Described is a viscous damper for a hydraulic power transmission with a lockup clutch. The viscous damper is composed of at least one blade mounted on at least one element of the hydraulic power transmission so that said at least one blade is located in an oil filled in said hydraulic power transmission and controls occurrence of self-excited vibrations. Preferably, plural blades are mounted on a wall of at least one of mutually opposing two elements of the hydraulic transmission, said wall of said at least one element being locate opposite a wall of the other element.

Viscous damper for hydraulic power transmission

A torque converter having a lockup mechanism makes it possible to positively and forcibly suppress the frictional heat and others generated on the frictional surfaces of the lockup clutch and its counterpart while the lockup clutch is in operation, particularly in a slipping state. Hence, the life of the lockup clutch or that of the torque converter as a whole is prolonged. In this torque converter having the lockup mechanism, a hydraulic control mechanism is provided for maintaining the difference of pressure substantially at a constant level and changing the flow rate of a fluid to be supplied to the frictional surface of the lockup clutch in order to control the slipping state of the lockup clutch. Oil grooves are cut on the frictional member of the lockup clutch.

Torque converter with a lockup mechanism

In a two-way clutch comprising an outer race having a plurality of roller receiving portions each formed by a pair of bisymmetrical arch-shaped cam surfaces, rollers disposed in the roller receiving portions, and a cage having support portions for the rollers and disposed on the inner periphery side of the outer race, the cage has a portion extending in the direction of a rotary shaft and clutch shoe receiving portions radially provided on the extending portion, and clutch shoes slidably fitted in the clutch shoe receiving portions have a sliding surface displaced by a centrifugal force resulting from the rotation of the clutch and sliding relative to a member outside the clutch.

Cylindrical roller type two-way clutch

A one-way clutch comprises an outer race where inner surface is formed with a raceway surface and an annular groove; an inner race whose outer surface is formed with a raceway surface; a plurality of wedge members interposed between the outer and inner races about the annular space defined therebetween; and a retainer comprising an outwardly extended annular projected portion engageable with the annular groove and a pushing member for causing the annular projected portion to elastically press against the annular groove. The retainer member is interposed between the outer and inner races so as to retain the plurality of wedge members, the outer race is provided with a stopper for limiting the displacement of the projected portion after the engagement thereof with the annular grove. The outer diameter of the projected portion is greater than the inner diameter of the raceway surface of the outer race.

One-way clutch

In a one-way clutch bearing having an outer race having an annular inner surface, an inner race having an annular outer surface corresponding to and concentric with the inner surface, and rolling members disposed in an annular space formed between the inner surface and the outer surface, whereby relative rotation of the inner and outer races in one direction is prevented by displacement of the rolling members in the space and a torque is transmitted, holding means for holding the rolling members is provided at a displacement position whereat the rolling members transmit a predetermined transmission torque, and means is provided for decreasing a wedge angle (an angle defined by a line extending from the center of the inner race to the point of contact between the rolling member and the inner race and a line passing through the points of contact between the rolling member and the inner and outer races) at a position before the rolling members arrive at the displacement position.

One-way clutch bearing

This specification discloses a one-way clutch rolling member holder for holding a plurality of rolling members disposed between the annular inner surface of an outer race and the annular outer surface of an inner race and intermittently transmitting a torque, characterized in that the holder has a plurality of holding surfaces disposed between the rolling members, and some or all of the holding surfaces have a planar portion bearing against the annular inner surface of the outer race or the annular outer surface of the inner race. The specification also disclosed a one-way clutch having such holder.

A one-way clutch device comprises a first member having an annular track surface, a second member having an annular track surface concentric with the annular track surface of the first member, a ring space defined between the track surface of the first member and the track surface of the second member, torque transmitting members disposed in the ring space and tiltable into wedge engagement with both of the track surfaces to connect the track surfaces together for rotation in unison, a first annular retaining member engaged with the torque transmitting members to hold the same, the first retaining member being disposed concentrically with and adjacent to the track surface of the first member and engaged with the first member to prevent axial slippage thereof, a second annular retaining member engaged with the torque transmitting members to hold the same, the second retaining member being disposed concentrically with and adjacent to the track surface of the second member, and a spring interposed between the first retaining member and the second retaining member and biasing the two retaining members away from each other.

A one-way clutch formed between an inner race and an outer race rotatable relative to each other for preventing the relative rotation thereof exceeding a predetermined limit. The permission and prevention of the relative rotation of the two races is accomplished by rollers contained in roller containing grooves formed in the inner race or the outer race. The opposite side walls of each containing grooves for holding the rollers in a predetermined state are formed by a roller holding member mounted to the inner race or the outer race. Engaging portions and engaged portions are formed on the holding member and the rollers, respectively.
