A control unit performs a reconciliation process in a case where an error occurs while a transport unit is transporting media to a temporary storage unit or a storage unit and the number of media stored in a memory becomes uncertain, the reconciliation process being a process in which the control unit checks the number of media stored in the memory using the temporary storage unit while at least a part of the media remain in the temporary storage unit.

A sheet processing apparatus in the present invention operates in a self-service mode, in which a user does not receive operation support provided by an operation assistant, and a non-self-service mode, in which the user receives the operation support. Banknote handling apparatus

A banknote handling apparatus includes: a first winding storage unit; a second storage unit; a transport unit; a recognition unit; and a control unit. The first storage unit stores the banknotes, while providing a mark associated with inventory amount information of the first storage unit. To perform a reconciliation process for the first storage unit, the control unit allows some of the banknotes stored in the first storage unit to be fed from the first storage unit, based on the mark, for recognition by the recognition unit, and determines an inventory amount of the first storage unit based on a result of the recognition and the inventory amount information associated with the mark.

The banknote handling apparatus includes a depositing unit, a dispensing unit, a plurality of banknote storing units, a transport unit, a recognition unit, and a control unit. A printed note deposit system, comprises: a plurality of the printed note deposit machines; a database apparatus installed in a central office and receiving transaction data from the memory of each of the printed note deposit machines to accumulate the transaction data; and a trace unit matching the transaction data accumulated in the database apparatus with transaction data on the detected counterfeit or unidentified notes to track down a user of the unauthenticated notes.
