A motion conversion apparatus having a torque compensation device which is operable to cancel a fluctuation torque, acting on an input shaft due to an inertia load and a fluctuation torque acting on the input shaft due to a frictional load. The motion conversion apparatus converts a continuous rotational motion of the input shaft into a predetermined-type motion of an output shaft through a transmission cam device with the torque compensation device comprising a cam connected to the input shaft, a cam follower, and a resilient force-producing device pressing the cam follower against the cam. The torque compensation device is operable to cancel (a) a frictional fluctuation torque portion which is obtained by subtracting from a fluctuation torque acting on at least one of the input shaft and the output shaft when converting the motion of the input shaft into the motion of the output shaft through the transmission cam device, an average value or the approximate average value of the fluctuation torque, and (b) a fluctuation torque acting on the input shaft due to an inertia load when converting the motion of the input shaft into the motion of the output shaft.

Motion conversion apparatus

A motion transforming apparatus for transforming a continuous rotary motion of an input shaft into a motion of a predetermined type of an output shaft through a motion transmitting cam device. The fluctuating torque loaded on the input shaft by the motion transmitting cam device is compensated by torque compensating cam device and pneumatic cylinder device for applying a load on the torque compensating cam device. The pneumatic cylinder device includes a cylinder and a piston, and the pressure of the gas in the cylinder compressed or expanded by the reciprocating piston acts on the torque compensating cam device, thereby applying a compensating torque on the input shaft.

Motion transforming apparatus

A torque limiter includes a rotational driving member and a driven member aligned along the common axis. A plurality of axially extended arcuate recesses are formed on the outer periphery of an interlocking ferrule fitted over a rotational driving member, and also a plurality of radially extended grooves, matched with the arcuate recesses of the interlocking ferrule, are formed on the inner periphery of an interlocking ferrule fitted over a driven member opposed to the driving member. In each of the radial grooves, there is fitted a torque-transmitting steel ball in such a manner that it can only move radially and rotate about its own axis while it is confined in motion in the revolving and axial directions. As long as they transmit torque less than a preset critical level, these balls are biased diametrally inward by an elastic pressure means so that the rotational driving member and the driven member are integrally driven together. If any amount of torque exceeding the critical level is applied between the two members, the torque-transmitting steel balls being pressed against the arcuate recesses of the driving member and the radial grooves of the driven member will overcome the action of the elastic pressure means and will move radially outward along the radial grooves, thus allowing the driving and driven members to rotate relative to each other.
