This apparatus automatically relocates the stocking toe part correctly on a setting frame prior to steam setting when the toe part is misplaced. The apparatus essentially comprises a pair of relocating members and a seam locator: the relocating members hold the stocking toe part together with a setting frame from both sides; the seam locator, essentially composed of a number of electrodes and a sheet of piezoelectric conductive rubber, locates a misplaced seam line by its protrusion on the setting frame and causes the relocating members to slip the seam line transversally to a certain extent on the setting frame so as to correct its position. Thus the magnitude of slip is determined by the relative position of the seam line and by one of the electrodes which has sensed the protrusion of the seam line so that the apparatus may automatically relocate the stocking toe part correctly on the setting frame.

An apparatus for automatically packaging folded hosiery into a pouch having a pouch closing flap in which a first means automatically forms the pouch and flap of a single sheet of plastic film with one face of a double-faced adhesive tape adhesively attached to the pouch, in which a second means automatically inserts the folded hosiery into the pouch while adhesively attaching the other face of the double-faced adhesive tape already on the pouch to the flap to close the pouch with the hosiery therein and in which a suction transfer arm automatically transfers the pouch and flap as made by the first means to the second means to insert the hosiery into the pouch.

Fully automatic, swift and reliable packing of stockings or the like is carried out by combination of an upstream stockings folder assembly and a downstream stockings encloser assembly, the folder assembly folds each pair of stockings for required times each time by cooperation of a reciprocal inserter plate and a nip formed by a pair of circulating suffaces for catching the stockings, and the encloser assembly inserts the folded stockings into plastic unit envelopes, either separate or combined in a continuous band, by cooperation of an insertion guide provisionaly enterable into each unit envelope and an inserter plate for assigning the folded stockings from the insertion guide to the unit envelope.

Automatic method and apparatus for packing stockings or the like

A fully automatic system for folding stockings or a like long, substantially flat, non-rigid article around a cardboard insert, including foldable insert, and enclosing the stockings with the insert in an envelope of transparent, thermoplastic material. A great deal of saving of manual labor enables ideal streamlining of the whole process for manufacturing stockings for remarkable reduction in manufacturing cost. Sealing of the envelope containing the stockings with gummed tapes may be performed fully automatically, also.
