A process for removing an organic compound or compounds which is/are a chlorinated hydrocarbon or hydrocarbon by catalytic combustion, the process including the step of contacting the organic compound or compounds with a combustion catalyst which includes a mixture of a zeolite and a metal oxide, where the metal oxide is loaded with at least one of the elements of the platinum group.

A combustion catalyst for removing organic compounds which includes a mixture of a zeolite and a metal oxide containing at least one of the elements of the platinum group. Another combustion catalyst for removing organic compounds which comprises an alumina having such a pore size distribution that, where 'a' represents a pore radius in &#x212b; at the maximum of the pore size distribution curve, the accumulated pore volume of pores having radii in the range of 'a' &#xb1;25 &#x212b; is at least 65% of the total volume of all the pores, the alumina containing less than 1% by weight of rare earth elements and being loaded with one or more elements of the platinum group. In an electromagnetic clutch having drive and driven side clutch plates in which the drive side clutch plate is provided with a plurality of elongated holes circumferentially arranged at given intervals, a depression is formed by compressing and plastically press deforming each bridge portion positioned circumferentially between adjacent two of the elongated holes on an axial end surface of the drive side clutch plate facing the driven side clutch plate. Though tensile stress caused by belt tension is likely concentrated on the bridge portion, the depression, which causes higher hardness of the bridge portion, effectively serves to restrain occurrence of the fatigue failure.

The combustion catalyst comprises a first catalyst comprising a metal oxide containing at least one of the elements of the platinum group, and a second catalyst comprising a mixture of zeolite with a metal oxide containing at least one of the elements of the platinum group, in a manner such that the organic compounds are contacted first with the first catalyst and then with the second catalyst, whereby the organic compounds can be efficiently removed at a low temperature.

Accordingly, eccentric load acting on the joint according to the rotation thereof is received by the housing of the compressor so that the shaft of the compressor receives lower bending moment. Further, as the first and second rubber dampers are used, a composite elastic coefficient thereof is smaller so that torque fluctuation applied to the joint is adequately absorbed.

Disclosed is a process for preparing a solid titanium catalyst component, comprising the steps of (I) contacting a liquid magnesium compound with a liquid titanium compound to precipitate a solid in the contact liquid (&bgr;), and adding an electron donor (d-i) selected from the group consisting of a polycarboxylic ester and a polyether compound to the contact liquid (&bgr;) during the time from beginning to end of the solid precipitation, to form a solid product (&agr;); and (II) contacting the solid product (&agr;) obtained after completion of the solid precipitation with an electron donor (d-ii) selected from the group consisting of a polycarboxylic ester and a polyether compound, to prepare a solid titanium catalyst component. According to the process, a solid titanium catalyst component capable of polymerizing an olefin with high activity and capable of preparing an olefin polymer of high stereoregularity can be prepared. Also disclosed are an olefin polymerization catalyst containing a solid titanium catalyst component obtained by the above process and an olefin polymerization process using the olefin polymerization catalyst.

Disclosed is a process for preparing a solid titanium catalyst component, comprising contacting (a) a liquid magnesium compound, (b) a liquid titanium compound, (c) an electron donor and (d) a solid divalent metallic halide. In this process, the solid divalent metallic halide is one having a crystalline structure of the cadmium chloride type.
