An extrusion dryer for a rubbery polymer includes a cylinder equipped with a hopper for injection of the rubbery polymer at one end and a die at the other end. A screw is rotatably arranged inside of the cylinder, the screw having a shaft and a spiral flight formed on an outer surface of the shaft. The shaft includes multiple zones, each including a conveyance section and a compression section. In the zone closest to the die, the outer diameter of the shaft at the conveyance section is smaller than the outer diameter at the compression section.

A water-containing substance detection device that detects a water-containing rubbery polymer, includes a conveyor configured to convey rubbery polymers; and a detector configured to detect the water-containing rubbery polymer among the rubbery polymers, conveyed by the conveyor, by a temperature sensor. The conveyor has a surface with an emissivity of 0.50 or more. The temperature sensor has a frame rate falling within a range of 5 Hz to 120 Hz. The detector detects the water-containing rubbery polymer, near an ejection port of the conveyor, and on a downstream side of the ejection port.

A conjugated diene rubber composition comprising (A) 5-95 wt. % of a conjugated diene rubber having a structure such that at least three conjugated diene polymer chains are bonded together through a specific polyorganosiloxane having groups containing alkylene glycol repeating units and (B) 95-5 wt. % of a conjugated diene rubber having reacted with a compound having in the molecule a functional group selected from &#x3e;C&#x2550;O, &#x3e;C&#x2550;S, amino, imino, epoxy, pyridyl, alkoxyl and halogeno. A conjugated diene rubber obtained by a process wherein active conjugated diene polymer chains each having an active metal at a polymer chain terminal, which have been obtained by polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer alone, or a conjugated diene monomer and an aromatic vinyl monomer with the aid of an organic active metal in an inert solvent, are allowed to react with a specific polyorganosiloxane capable of reacting with the active metal bonded to the polymer chain terminal. The conjugated diene rubber contains at least 5% by weight of a structure comprising at least three conjugated diene polymer chains bonded through a polyorganosiloxane. The conjugated diene rubber gives, when silica is incorporated therein, a rubber composition having good processability and giving a crosslinked rubber having reduced heat build-up, good wet grip performance and good abrasion resistance.

A rubber vulcanizate made from a rubber composition comprising this conjugated diene rubber gel and a rubber capable of being crosslinked with sulfur exhibits good abrasion resistance and low heat-build up without deterioration of mechanical properties, and thus, is suitable for tire materials. This conjugated diene rubber gel can be produced with high efficiency by emulsion-polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising 50&#x2013;99.9 weight % of a conjugated diene monomer, 0&#x2013;30 weight % of an aromatic vinyl monomer, 0&#x2013;20 weight % of a crosslinking monomer.

Conjugated diene rubber gel, rubber compositions containing the same and process for production of conjugated diene rubber

A rubber composition comprising (i) an incompatible polymer blend of at least two diene rubbers selected from rubbers containing a conjugated diene and, optionally, an aromatic vinyl monomer and forming two polymer phases (A) and (B), and (ii) 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, based upon 100 parts by weight of the total polymer component including the block copolymer, of a block copolymer having at least two mutually incompatible blocks (a) and (b), wherein the block (a) is compatible with the polymer phase (A) and incompatible with the polymer phase (B) and the block (b) is compatible with the polymer phase (B) and incompatible with the polymer phase (A), and composed of a conjugated diene and, optionally, an aromatic vinyl monomer, and wherein the molecular weights of the polymers forming the polymer phases (A) and (B) satisfy the specified equations (I) and (II) mentioned in the specification.

A conjugated diene rubber gel comprising 80-99 weight % of conjugated diene monomer units and 20-1 weight % of aromatic vinyl monomer units and having a swelling index of 16 to 70 as measured in toluene. A rubber vulcanizate made from a rubber composition comprising this conjugated diene rubber gel and a rubber capable of being crosslinked with sulfur exhibits good abrasion resistance and low heat-build up without deterioration of mechanical properties, and thus, is suitable for tire materials. A forming method for a fiber aggregate in which fibers are heated to be welded with each other includes a heating step of applying upward heated air to a bottom of a block of the fibers to pass the heated air therethrough and to cause the block of fibers to float, wherein at least parts of fibers are melted while the block of fibers float, and a compression step of compressing substantially in a vertical direction the heated block of fibers into a desired height. The compressed block of fibers is cooled to solidify melted portions of the fibers at portions where the fibers intersect with each other.
