A negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery that can stably and efficiently realize a high-performance nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery in which a high discharge capacity, high charge/discharge efficiency at an initial stage and during charge/discharge cycles, and excellent charge/discharge cycle properties are provided as well as electrode expansion in volume after charge/discharge cycles is suppressed. The negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery in the form of particles having, at least on the surface thereof, a compound of the phase in which an element Z is present in Si in a non-equilibrium state. The compound is expressed by the general formula SiZM, where Z represents C and/or N, M represents an element other than C and N, and when the concentration of the element Z in a compound SiZ, where each of a and p is an integer, having a composition closest to that of Si and present in an equilibrium state is presumed to be 100 atomic percent, the concentration of the element Z in the compound SiZMis in the range of 10 to 95 atomic percent, and y is in the range of 0 to 0.5.

Nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery, and negative electrode and material thereof

Disclosed is a medical device in which a surface of a base material for constructing the medical device is coupled to a high-molecular weight compound composed of N-substituted alkylacrylamide by the aid of a reaction between a reactive functional group such as isocyanate group, epoxy group, and aldehyde group existing on the surface and a functional group which is possessed by the high-molecular weight compound and which is reactive with the first reactive functional group.

A feed additive granule for ruminants comprising a granulated physiologically active substance as the core, a first coating layer placed on the surface of said core, said first coating layer containing a high molecular substance which dissolves or swells in water in an acidic pH region of not greater than 5.5 and is stable in a pH region of 5.6 to 8.0, and a second coating layer placed on said first coating layer, said second coating layer being of a substance which is stable in an acidic pH region of not greater than 5.5, dissolves or swells in water in a pH region of 5.6 to 8.0 and is acceptable to ruminants, and some modifications thereof, as well as feed for ruminants comprising such a novel feed additive.

A feed additive for ruminants, which comprises cores containing an acid salt of a basic amino acid, and a first coating layer and a second coating layer coated sequentially on the surface of each core, wherein said first coating layer contains at least one first coating agent selected from the group consisting of a neutral or weakly acidic organic substance, a substantially neutral fine powder of inorganic substance, a non-ionic hydrophilic polymer substance and an anionic hydrophilic polymer substance and being physiologically acceptable to the ruminants, and the second coating layer contains as a second coating agent a polymer soluble or swellable in water in an acidic region of a pH of at most 5.5.

A feed additive for ruminants, which comprises core containing a carbamate of a basic amino acid and coated with a polymer coating agent soluble or swellable in water in an acidic region of a pH of at most 5.

Disclosed herein is a process for producing a pyrrolidone derivative represent by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R is an organic residue obtained by removing hydroxy radical from a C.sub.1-10 primary alcohol, C.sub.1-10 secondary alcohol or derivative thereof, comprising (1) reacting 2-pyrrolidone with acetaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst, thereby obtaining N-(.alpha.-hydroxyethyl)pyrrolidone, and (2) reacting the thus obtained N-(.alpha.-hydroxyethyl)pyrrolidone with a primary alcohol, a secondary alcohol or a derivative thereof in the presence of an acidic catalyst to obtain the pyrrolidone derivative.

Process for producing pyrrolidone derivative

In a process for preparing a polyolefin without separation of catalyst residues by polymerizing an olefin in the pres ence of a Ziegler catalyst having high catalytic activity, in an inert gas sealing system; an improvement comprises separating the polyolefin containing the catalyst residue from the polymerization mixture, and contacting the polyolefin containing the catalyst residue with a weak reactive gas of oxygen and/or steam diluted with an inert gas.
