Octahydronaphthalene oxime compounds for cholesterol synthesis inhibition

Compounds of formula (I): ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen, methyl or hydroxy; X is alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl; A is a single bond or alkylene, alkenylene, alkynylene or alkadienylene and Y is aryl. The compounds have valuable antihypercholesteremic activities and can be used in the treatment of disorders arising from a blood cholesterol imbalance in humans and animals.

Derivatives of ML-236B carboxylic acid, its salts and esters and corresponding lactone have a hydroxy group at the 3'-position and optionally also at the 6'-position. These derivatives may be prepared by the enzymatic hydroxylation of a corresponding ML-236B compound employing an enzyme produced by a microorganism of the genus Streptomyces or Amycolata, especially Streptomyces sp. SANK 62285, Streptomyces sp. SANK 62385, Streptomyces sp. SANK 62485, Streptomyces sp. SANK 62585, Amycolata autotrophica SANK 62781. Amycolata autotrophica subsp. canberrica SANK 62882 or Amycolata autotrophica subsp. amethystina SANK 62981. These derivatives have the ability to inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis.

Octahydronaphthalene oxime derivatives for cholesterol synthesis

An NMR imaging apparatus and method for detecting a nuclear spin resonance signal from an object, which is placed in a magnetic field, to produce images of the object. At an instant when the spins come into phase after the signal detection by a first spin excitation, RF magnetic field pulses are applied for rotating the direction of the spin to that opposite to the initial state. After that, the spin excitation and the signal direction of second time are conducted to measure the data which are different in the effect of the relaxation time from the first measurements. By repeating these sequences, it is possible to produce a plurality of images such as an intensity image or a relaxation time enhanced image.

Imaging method and apparatus using nuclear magnetic resonance

An NMR imaging apparatus and method for direct Fourier imaging. This apparatus includes a static magnetic field generator, gradient magnetic field generators, high-frequency magnetic field generator, signal detecting detector for detecting a nuclear magnetic resonance signal from a body to be inspected, a computer for performing an arithmetic operation for the detected signal to obtain the nuclear magnetic resonance intensity distribution in the to-be-inspected body from measured values of the nuclear magnetic resonance intensity distribution at various points on a rectangular coordinate system in the Fourier space, and memories used for correction. In the imaging apparatus, that distortion of image data obtained by calculation from the detected signal which is caused by the deviation of the intensity of the static magnetic field from a predetermined value or the deviation of the intensity of a gradient magnetic field from a predetermined, linearly-varying intensity, is corrected by those measured values with respect to the above deviation of magnetic field intensity which are previously in the memory, and corrected image data is displayed on a display device.

In the scanning type ultrasonic equipment provided with a probe a plurality of transducer elements and with a phasing circuit for signals which are delivered from the transducer elements on the basis of a received ultrasonic wave, the phasing circuit includes constant current circuits each for converting selected ones of the signals from the transducer elements into a constant current signal, and a delay line having taps which are connected to the constant current circuits, in order to reduce the number of parts included in the phasing circuit and the number of adjusting operations performed therein.

An NMR imaging apparatus for reconstructing a cross section of a body to be inspected, by the projection-reconstruction method. That is, an apparatus for forming the above cross section in such a manner that the nuclear magnetic resonance is caused by the to-be-inspected body in the resulting magnetic field of a static magnetic field and a rotatable gradient field, a projection of the to-be-inspected body is detected at each rotational positions of the gradient field, and the cross section is reconstructed using the above projection. The apparatus comprises memories for previously storing therein data indicating the distorsion of magnetic field such as the non-uniformity of the static magnetic field and the non-linearity of the gradient field, in order to perform the coordinate calculation in the back projection, using the data stored in the memories.

In an ultrasonic imaging system including an array of ultrasonic oscillators, ultrasonic beams are electronically scanned by sequentially selecting a plurality of oscillator sets for beam transmission and reception. For one transmission of ultrasonic waves, at least two receiver oscillator sets having at least some oscillators in common are simultaneously selected, and the respective outputs from the oscillators in the at least two receiver oscillator sets are phase-adjusted so that echoes received by the at least two receiver oscillator sets effectively correspond to echoes substantially emanating from at least two respective different points on a depth level distanced from the plane of the oscillator array by a predetermined depth, whereby at least two signals and hence at least two successive scan lines relating to the echoes from those respective different points are produced. As a result, improved line resolution and rapid line acquisition can be obtained.

The apparatus comprises a memory in which both of first signals representative of the time delays given to the transducer elements in dependence on given deflection angles and signals designating display position in the X- and Y-directions of the CRT are previously stored and read out for producing delays allotted for the transducer elements and displaying the received echo signal on the CRT.
