Provided are an organopolysiloxane composition for producing a rope structure excellent in fatigue resistance, a rope structure using the same, and a process for producing the rope structure. The organopolysiloxane composition comprises an organopolysiloxane having an average polymerization degree of 50,000 to 200,000 and represented by the following formula (I):

In an electrically conductive sheath-core conjugate fiber including an electrically conductive layer made of a thermoplastic polymer (A) containing electrically conductive carbon black fine particles which constitutes a sheath component and a protective layer made of a fiber-forming thermoplastic polymer (B) which constitutes a core component, the ratio of the (A) to the total weight of the (A) and the (B) is 10 to 35% by weight, the L/Lratio is 1.04 to 10.0 where Lrepresents the length of a boundary between the core component and the sheath component in a cross section of the conjugate fiber and Lrepresents the length of the circumference of a circle having an area equal to a cross sectional area of the core component, the fineness, the strength at break and the elongation at break are each adjusted within specified ranges, the shrinkage in hot water at 100&#xb0; C. is within a specified range, and the fiber surface coverage of the sheath component is 85% or more. This results in provision of an electrically conductive sheath-core conjugate fiber that is excellent in antistatic performance, which is hardly degraded even after long-term wearing, that is maintained for a long time, and that is excellent in durability. A method for producing the electrically conductive sheath-core conjugate fiber and a dust-proof clothing using such a fiber are also provided.

An electrically conductive composite fiber comprising an electrically conductive layer formed of a polyester-based polymer (A) having a melting point of 200&#xb0; C. or higher and containing from 23 to 33% by weight of electrically conductive carbon black, and a protective layer formed of a polyester-based polymer (B) having a melting point of 210&#xb0; C. or higher, wherein the difference between the SP value of the (A) and the SP value of the (B) is adjusted to not greater than a predetermined value and the fiber strength and the elongation at break are adjusted within certain ranges. This can make it possible to obtain an electrically conductive composite fiber that has a superior antistatic performance, which is not degraded very much over a practical wearing for a long term, though it contains only a relatively small amount of electrically conductive carbon black, and that is suitable for the field of clothing such as clean room wears and working wears.

Provided are melt-spun fibers comprising, as at least one component, a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol, and a method for producing fibrous structures comprising the fibers. The thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol fibers comprise, as at least one component, a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol containing from 0.1 to 25 mol % of C1-4 &agr;-olefin units and/or vinyl ether units, having a molar fraction, based on vinyl alcohol units, of a hydroxyl group of vinyl alcohol unit located at the center of 3 successive vinyl alcohol unit chain in terms of triad expression of being from 70 to 99.9 mol %, having a carboxylic acid and lactone ring content of from 0.02 to 0.15 mol %, and having a melting point falling between 160&deg; C. and 230&deg; C., and contain from 0.0003 to 1 part by weight, relative to 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl alcohol therein and in terms of sodium ion, of an alkali metal ion.

An electrically-conductive composite fiber composed of an electrically-conductive polyamide layer (A) containing 15-50 wt % of electrically-conductive carbon black and which is three or more times exposed at the fiber surface and a protective polyamide layer (B) which covers no less than 60% of the periphery of the fiber cross section and accounts for 50-97 wt % of the total fiber weight, does not exhibit component separation during spinning, retains its good initial conductive performance for a long period of time, and exhibits good color fastness.

A fiber comprising a vinyl alcohol units-containing polymer, said polymer being modified at the oxygen atoms of its alcoholic hydroxyl groups with a group represented by the following formula I ##STR1## wherein M represents a chelate-forming metal atom and R represents an alkyl group. The fiber has excellent resistance to hot water and wet heat and does not stick, adhere or shrink even when dyed at high temperatures or treated by steam ironing, thus proving to be of markedly high commercial value.

A highly oriented, undrawn, conductive, composite filament is provided, which is white or colorless and has antistatic properties durable over a long period when clothing utilizing the fiber are actually put on and washed. The filament is a sheath-core composite filament comprising a sheath of a fiber-forming thermoplastic polymer (A) and a core of a composition (B) comprising a conductive material which comprises a conductive metal oxide and a thermoplastic polyamide, having a core resistance of not more than 9.times.10.sup.10 .OMEGA./cm.multidot.filament, the composite filament maintaining a critical elongation--an elongation reached in the course of extending a composite filament at which the core resistance exceeds 1.times.10.sup.11 .OMEGA./cm.multidot.filament at a D.C. voltage of 1 kV--of at least 5% and a shrinkage in hot water at 100.degree. C. of not higher than 20%. Such fiber can be obtained by conducting high orientation melt spinning at a rate of at least 2,500 m/min while selecting a polyamide as the core component to contain the white or colorless conductive material and having the composition previously dried to a moisture content of 100 to 1,200 ppm.

Provided are polyester fibers containing 0.2 to 20% by weight of a compound having a polyalkylenepolyamine skeleton to which groups having a polyalkylene oxide chain are bonded and having an HLB of 6.0 to 16.0, an average molecular weight of at least 10,000 and an amine value of not more than 500. A temperature-sensitive color-changeable composite fiber wherein (A) a thermally color-changeable polymer phase (phase A) composed essentially of a thermally color-changeable material and a thermoplastic polymer having a melting point or a softening point of 230.degree. C. or lower, the content of the thermally color-changeable material being 0.5 to 90% by weight and (B) a protective polymer (phase B) composed essentially of a fiber-forming thermoplastic polymer are brought into contact with each other, (i) the protective polymer phase (phase B) occupying at least 60% of the fiber surface area, and (ii) the protective polymer phase (phase B) occupying 20 to 95% by weight relative to the overall fiber.
