A lens is provided for converging rays reflected from an object, and a line sensor is provided for receiving rays converged by the lens. The line sensor has a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements corresponding to predetermined pixels of one line. White level correction data are obtained for correcting a deviation of an output signal of each photoelectric conversion element from a standard value, and plane correction data is obtained for correcting unequal distribution of quantity of light dependent on the lens. An output signal of the line sensor is corrected with the white correction data and the plane correction data.

An image processing method according to the invention includes the steps of dividing a picture into a plurality of regions, writing image data of each point of the plurality of regions into each corresponding memory locations of a memory only during periods selected, for each of the plurality of regions, from periods of the cycle of four fields. Another method according to the invention is characterized by writing image data of each point in at least one of the plurality of regions into each each memory locations of the memory only during the period of one field selected from periods of successive n-fields (n is a natural number equal to or greater than 2).

Method and apparatus of image processing

A signal regeneration processor which carries out dropout correction for a signal by replacing a prescribed number of low-order bits of a signal obtained by delaying a digitized regenerated signal by a prescribed length of time, with a prescribed code in accordance with a dropout detection signal, and then by writing the signal in a signal processing memory according to the prescribed code contained in the data read from the memory. Since it is possible to confirm in advance the occurrence of a dropout on the reading side of the memory and to carry out dropout correction by address manipulation of the memory, a line memory for replacing a video data at the time of dropout correction can be eliminated.

A video signal reproducing system including a still picture reproduction function is provided with correction circuitry for preventing the line jitter problem which often occurs in conventional units. A memory circuit is provided which has a capacity of at least one field, and receives a video input via a variable delay circuit. The output is derived, in alternate fields, from the memory circuit or a correction circuit. In one embodiment, the correction circuit may deliver a line interpolated signal derived by averaging the memory output signal and a 1-H delayed signal from the memory circuit.

Upon starting of a track jump operation of the information reading system, phases of generation of the read-out reset signal before and after the starting of the track jump operation is changed with each other.

Time base correction system with coarse and fine correction

A video processing system in which data obtained from sampling an input video format signal according to a first timing signal is written into a first memory according to the first timing signal. Data is read-out of the first memory according to a second timing signal having a frequency equal to N times that of a horizontal synchronizing frequency of the input signal, thereby obtaining data with no time-base fluctuation. M-samples of data from the first memory is then written into a second memory, and data from the second memory is read-out such that the read-out signal from the second memory has a different phase than that of the input video format signal. The system is operable for simultaneously stopping data being read-out of the first memory and data being written into the second memory for a period of time equal to R+kM samples of the input video format signal, wherein R is an integer remainder of N/M, and k is either a positive integer or zero.

Video format signal processing system

A control and reading circuit for a videodisk player, wherein a pulse is generated in synchronization with the rotation of the disk. A subsequent synchronizing signal initiates digitized storage of the playback signal. After storage of sufficient data, the pick up mechanism of a disk detector is caused to jump one or more tracks in a direction dictated by the mode of operation.

A noise reduction circuit for eliminating the noises contained in a composite color video signal, including a high-pass filter for extracting high-frequency components from composite color video signal, an amplitude limiter responsive to the high-frequency components to limit the amplitudes of these components, a phase inverter for inverting the phase of the output from the amplitude-limiter, a mixing network receiving both of the composite color video signal and the output from the phase inverter so that the noises contained in the former are substantially cancelled by the latter, wherein a notch filter is provided to attenuate signal components of a predetermined frequency contained in the input signal to the amplitude limiter to remove the chrominance component from the signal to be supplied to the amplitude limiter. The noise reduction circuit is useful especially in a composite color video reproduction system of a constant-line-velocity video disc player having special reproduction modes such as the still-motion, fast-feed and slow-motion modes.
