The present invention provides padding which is suitable as bedding and clothing items having both exothermic property upon moisture absorption and bulkiness in high levels and being able to give comfortable environment to human body. The present invention relates to a padding containing 25 to 85% by weight of polyester fiber, characterized in that the padding contains 15 to 75% by weight of a cross-linked polyacrylate fiber of a magnesium salt type and/or a calcium salt type.

Padding

The present invention provides fiber and a fiber structure having a high flame-retarding property and high moisture-absorptive property which do not generate noxious gases such as hydrogen halide gas upon burning, do not elute heavy metal compounds and phosphorus compounds therefrom even when reclaimed upon discarding including a burning treatment and have an excellent processing property. The present invention discloses a highly flame-retarding and moisture-absorptive fiber, characterized in that, it comprises an organic polymer having a cross-linking structure and a salt-type carboxyl group in which at least a part of such a salt-type carboxyl group is a magnesium salt type and a saturated moisture absorption rate at 20&#xb0; C. and 65% relative humidity and a limiting oxygen index are not less than 35% by weight and not less than 35, respectively, and a flame-retarding fiber structure wherein the highly flame-retarding and moisture-absorptive fiber is used in at least a part of the structure.

Fiber and a fiber structure having a high flame-retarding property and high moisture-absorptive property

A moisture absorbing hygroscopic fiber having high whiteness, characterized in that (1) acrylic fiber comprising acrylonitrile copolymer where a (meth)acrylate compound as a copolymer component is less than 5% by weight is treated with a hydrazine compound whereby introduction of crosslink and increase in nitrogen content to an extent of 1.0 about 10.0% by weight is carried out, (2) treatment with an aqueous solution of alkaline metal salt is carried out whereby carboxyl group of a metal salt type by which CN group is hydrolyzed is produced in an amount of 4.0 about 10.0 meq/g and (3) a reducing treatment by a reduction treatment agent selected from a group consisting of hydrosulfite, thiosulfate, sulfite, nitrite, thiourea dioxide, and ascorbate compound is carried out.

High-whiteness hygroscopic fiber

A filter unit for removing particulates in a gas to be treated, which unit includes a gas impermeable bulkhead that forms a channel through which the gas advances in the filter unit at least one round, and a filter member laminated on at least one side surface of the bulkhead without closing the channel. The filter unit or filter of the present invention reduces a load on a harm removing equipment, which in turn lowers the cleaning frequency and markedly prolongs the service life of the equipment.

A low-temperature regenerative type moisture absorbing element of fast moisture absorbing and releasing speed, capable of regenerating at 110.degree. C. or less and having a sufficiently high moisture absorbing and releasing performance in spite of small size is provided. A low-temperature regenerative type moisture absorbing element is mainly composed of high moisture absorbing and releasing polymeric compound with the content of salt type carboxyl group adjusted to a specific amount, and further comprises plural gas passages, of which regeneration temperature is 110.degree. C. or less. It is hence possible to provide a moisture absorbing element of small size, high efficiency, and energy-saving type, being excellent in moisture absorbing and releasing performance, and easily capable of removing absorbed moisture at low temperature which was impossible with the conventional moisture absorbing element. It can be applied not only in industrial and commercial uses, but also in household dehumidifying and drying applications, and may be employed in dehumidifying and drying applications of various gases.

Low-temperature regenerative type moisture absorbing element

High moisture-absorbing and releasing fibers exhibiting excellent moisture-absorbing properties and moisture-releasing properties, capable of withstanding repeated use, having both flame resistance and antibacterial properties, and further having excellent whiteness and workability, as well as processes for their production, are provided. These fibers are made from acrylic fibers and have been particularly adjusted to have an increase in nitrogen content by hydrazine crosslinking, amounts of salt type carboxyl groups and amido groups, tensile strength, limited oxygen index (LOI), sterilization rate, amount of heat evolved by moisture absorption, and whiteness. The production of these fibers are achieved by hydrazine crosslinking treatment, acid treatment, alkali treatment, and conversion of carboxyl groups into those of the salt type. The above fibers can be used for various purposes and can find an enlarged range of applications.
