The present invention relates to a process for modifying the surfaces of the molded materials made of fluorine resins comprising irradiating an ultraviolet laser beam on said surfaces in the presence of an ultraviolet-absorbing compound and a fluorosurfactant. According to the process, the adhesive and wetting properties and the like of the surfaces of the molded materials made of fluorine resins can be remarkably improved.

A method for surface modification of a fluorine resin by irradiating the surface of the fluorine resin containing a heat-resistant light-absorbing polymeric material and/or a light-absorbing material is with laser light. Surface properties of the fluorine resin molded articles, particularly adhesion and wetting properties, can be greatly improved by a simple operation with high efficiency.

An air conditioning system for buildings includes a plurality of air conditioners on the different floors, a cooling gravity type heat pipe connecting vaporizers in the air conditioners with a cold thermal source installed at the top of the building and a warming gravity type heat pipe connecting a condenser of the air conditioners with a hot thermal source installed in the basement of the building. The heat pipes are, respectively, provided with flow control valves at the inlet of each vaporizer and the outlet of each condenser. Each air conditioner is provided with a thermistor for detecting the temperature of the returning air and a liquid level detection switch for detecting the liquid level of the thermal medium in the vaporizer. The flow control valves are respectively controlled based on the detection signals issued by the thermistor and the liquid level detection switch.

Air conditioning system for buildings

An air conditioning system for a building according to the present invention essentially has a first thermal storage tank as a cold thermal source which is installed at a high place in the building, a second thermal storage tank as a hot thermal source which is installed at a low place in the building, air conditioners which are installed at various levels between the first thermal storage tank and the second thermal storage tank, and heat pipes of a gravity type with which the air conditioners are connected to the first thermal storage tank and the second thermal storage tank. This system dispenses with passages for water, typically used as a thermal medium, at the places where air conditioners are installed. The system makes it possible to lower the capacities of the air conditioning equipment, especially the capacity of the regrigerator included in the cold thermal source equipment.

The present invention provides a base cloth for reinforcement produced by winding a weldable yarn on either one of a warp or weft or the both at a definite interval, arranging the warp and weft in the respective directions and then thermally welding the both yarns. According to this method, the fraying of warp or weft, particularly easy fluffing of carbon fibers, etc. can be prevented by winding the weldable yarn. And, it is sufficient for the weldable yarn to be present at the intersections between the warp and weft. Consequently, as compared with a case wherein the whole weft is impregnated with adhesives, penetration of the matrix resin can sufficiently be attained and thus, strength in the weft direction can be improved.

The present invention provides a gypsum molded product having excellent waterproof properties without impaired strength by adding alkaline metal alkylsiliconates or phenylsiliconates together with calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide to gypsum; poly(.alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid) may be used in combination with the above, if desired. According to the present invention, the preparation of a gypsum molded product, particularly a gypsum from desulfurization of exhaust gas, is contemplated.

Present invention provides foamed gypsum moulded articles excellent in sound absorbing property and production thereof. The foamed gypsum moulded article has many foam-cells, and the foam-cells are interconnected through fine passages. The fine passages are formed using as a decomposition catalyst of hydrogen peroxide for expansion a cobalt compound produced by pretreating a water soluble cobalt salt with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of alkali. The foamed gypsum moulded article is preferably applicable to an interial wall, ceiling panel, and the like.

Apparatus for treating exhaust gases comprising a catalyst bed through which the exhaust gas is passed whereby nitrogen oxides and dust present therein are removed from the gas, said catalyst bed being designed such that the catalyst therein is discharged from the bed continuously or intermittantly while being fed in an amount that can compensate for the discharged amount, a heating device for heating the catalyst discharged from the bed to a temperature in a range from about 700.degree. to 1200.degree. C. for reactivation of the catalyst and separation of the dust accumulated on the bed surface and retained in the interstices between the catalyst particles therein, and a device for discharging sulfur dioxides produced during the course of heating the catalyst. This apparatus is very effective in simultaneously removing the nitrogen oxides and the dust from exhaust gases such as boiler exhaust gases.

Method for treating exhaust gases

A method for removing sulfur dioxide from waste gases by a wet oxidation-absorption method, which is characterized in that an aqueous solution of ammonium sulfate acidified with sulfuric acid at a pH range of 3 - 4 is used as the absorbent. The SO.sub.2 contained in the waste gases is absorbed with the aqueous solution of ammonium sulfate in an absorption tower and then oxidized with air or oxygen to be converted into sulfuric acid in an oxidation tower.
