A surgical microscope employs a pentaprism beam splitter as a branching unit to branch each beam passed through variable power optical systems into a first beam and a second beam, the first beam being horizontally reflected for an eyepiece unit, the second beam being vertically transmitted for an imaging device. The pentaprism alone is capable of simultaneously conducting reflection to provide an erect image and transmission to provide a photographing image, thereby reducing the number of optical parts in a microscope body of the surgical microscope.

A medical stand apparatus includes a cylindrical lower arm that accommodates an upper arm divided into sections, so that only the lower arm is visible from the outside and so that a drape can tightly be fastened to the lower arm. The upper arm sections are connected to each other through a shaft that is guided along an arc groove of a bracket. This configuration is beneficial to reduce a diameter of the lower arm when the upper and lower arms are curved.

A surgical microscope system includes a camera that is rotatable around a first rotation axis and a second rotation axis, the rotation axes being orthogonal to each other, so that a photographing direction of the camera is changeable at a given position. The first rotation axis is inclined with respect to a vertical axis, and therefore, a lower end of a first member is able to be set at a height that does not interfere with the photographing direction when the camera is horizontally oriented.

Drawing the drape to the surgical microscope results in clearing the field of vision of a surgeon. Part of the drape around the lateral arm and a longitudinal arm is not drawn, to cause no hindrance in operability of the surgical microscope. The lateral arm and the like are hollow to form an inner ventilating path without separately preparing ventilating tubes or the like for ventilation.

An automatic balancing structure of a medical balancing stand includes an elastic member arranged in each clearance C. When an imbalance occurs on the lateral arm, the lateral arm produces torque with which a contact part of the lever presses and deforms one of the elastic members to activate a corresponding one of switches Sand S. The activated switch outputs an imbalance detected signal to an adjustment unit, which resolves the imbalance. The switches Sand Sare simple to downsize the automatic balancing structure and are effective to carry out balance adjustment.

An automatic balancing structure of a medical balancing stand has stoppers arranged on a turn plate. In a normal state, the stoppers are in contact with and hold a contact part of a lever so that the lever and turn plate follow a rotative motion of a lateral arm. If the lateral arm causes an imbalance, a strain occurs on the lever to which a strain sensor is attached. The strain sensor detects the strain and outputs a signal to an adjustment unit so as to cancel the imbalance of the lateral arm. The strain sensor helps downsizing the automatic balancing structure and making the balance adjustment easier.

The engagement of the stopper units with the pistons stably maintains the anchored state of the base. The plurality of actuator is easily operated only by supplying air thereto.

Only a front end partof a surgical microscopeis turned in a left-right direction X around a main axis S, so that an observation angle of a surgical site T is freely changed in the left-right direction. Even if the observation angle is changed, the orientation of eyepiecesis unchanged, and therefore, an operator does not need to bend his or her neck and no burden is imposed on the neck of the operator even if the operator must conduct an operation that takes a long time.

A surgical microscope system is disclosed. The surgical microscope is comprised of a stand which is comprised of a movable base and a support capable of free motion with keeping a particular orientation relative to the movable base; a stereoscopic surgical microscope linked with the support, which is comprised of a pair of first optical systems so as to provide a first stereoscopic magnified view; and a stereoscopic display device having a movable link with the stand, which is comprised of a display screen for displaying stereoscopic image taken by the first optical systems and a pair of second optical systems as to show the stereoscopic image as a second stereoscopic magnified view.

An optical measuring system has a first optical measuring instrument and a second optical measuring instrument. The optical measuring system includes a first optical path to guide a first beam from a measuring region to the first optical measuring instrument, a second optical path to guide a second beam from the measuring region to the second optical measuring instrument, an optical system through which the first and second optical paths extend and in which the first and second optical paths are paraxial, a reflection area to change the direction of the first optical path, the second optical path crossing the reflection area, and a light transmission area arranged at a position where the reflection area and second optical path cross each other, the light transmission area having a higher light transmittance than the reflection area.

Optical measuring system

A fixed-high-power-switching microscope including a usual variable power optical system which can be switched to a fixed high power high resolution optical system, as necessary, is provided. The microscope includes a second optical axis for the fixed high power bypassing the variable power optical system. A prism (reflecting element) movable into and out of a first optical axis switches a viewing optical path from the first optical axis for the variable usual power to the second optical axis for the fixed high power, as necessary, providing a clear magnified image at high magnification and high resolution.

Variable magnification microscope

A microscope suitable for use together with MRI, and a support stand for the microscope are provided. A microscope is a non-magnet type where any electric motor is not used, and hence does not induce fluctuations of magnetic field having effects on image quality of an MRI by focusing or zooming. Hence, the microscope of the invention is suitable for use together with MRI . Since a clutch C is of non-magnet type, a support stand does not induce changes in the surrounding magnetic field environments if the clutch is operated, and hence it is suitable for use, for example, in proximity to the MRI.
